Obviously you need to think about your own safety and everything but aside from that PLEASE GO!! You might solve one of the biggest mysteries on the internet.

Or one of them could get murdered by the other one. But hey, don't worry about that. Satisfying your idle curiosity is way more important.

    Hi All,

firstly, yes i do genuinely work in social care, secondly this is not normal behaviour for an elderly person (i dont know where elderly came from, she didnt sound that old?) thirdly, i didnt know any of this until i started investigating, i would never of applied for the job if i knew it would of caused this much distress - i know it sound dramatic but thats how i feel, and unless you heard her like me and GumbyS did, then u would realise that why we feel the need to meet her.

one minute she was this sad, pityful needy voice on the end of the phone, the next minute she was bombarding me with shopping lists of foods she wanted from m&s and waitrose and expected me to pay for it, take it round to her and then take out her bin and change her bedding?

she said she didnt trust anyone but was willing for someone to spend their own cash for her groceries, no job interview, no contract or proper discussion but someone can demand that u take their bins out - it was just disgusting behaviour... and to top it off she has been advertising for 10-15 years and probably done this to lots of people.

im not going to go round there to scare the living daylights out of her, im a Practitioner for Young Peoples Services and i have worked and trained in social care for a long time, if i go round there i will say she gave me the address in her email and i was concerned about her welfare and checking if she needs any help. if she turn out to be like the granny from Psycho then i will call the police myself and show them the emails and let them listen to the voicemails.

OMG - the granny from psycho!!! i feel sick

It's not exactly about curiosity but stopping this woman from abusing more people. Whether it's the police or the Guardian who need to be involved, I don't know, but it's about taking a risk to help the community.

I'm 100% with Miss P - you can't fully grasp this situation unless you've had phone conversations with this woman. The other thing is that she doesn't allow you to hang up and talks and talks at you for hours, even if you tell her you're working or busy.
And no - she does not sound elderly.

i guess only me and GumbyS feel this way as we have felt the wrathe of this woman.

what started off as a simple job advert in the guardian newspaper has actually turned into a living nightmare!

i know i sound dramatic but i GumbyS knows what im talking about.

i have been creeped out since Friday, since speaking to her, knowing that she has my details and not knowing what this whole thing is or was about bugs the hell out of me?

by the way what happened to coolcat2012?

I don't know whether either of you are real people, and you may both be the same person, but just in case one of you is then you may notice that people are not recommending that you don't contact the Guardian, or the police, or investigate this if you want to, but that you don't meet up with random strangers off the internet to do so. If you want to go round there (which I wouldn't recommend), go round with a friend. GumbyS could be the person who placed the advert. So could you.

I imagine coolcat whatever doesn't log into this forum constantly to check on posts he or she made several months ago. I don't know why you keep on about that.

Do you think we should contact the police, Miss P? For some reason I feel it's pointless to contact the Guardian, as they seem not to care and have run the ad for so many years.

i asked about coolcat2012 because i joined the thread to message him/her.

they said they worked for the writer, and i sent a post asking them to get in touch.

as for gumbys, he or she could well be the 'notting hill help' but we would have to arrange some where neutral to meet, i guess we will figure it out and keep you all posted as we go along.

*its to hot today to wear a disguise* hahahaha

will have to get a newspaper and cut holes for the eyes! gumbys, try and bring two copies of todays metro with you!!!
