I am an old bag, who for a long time has felt myself a member of a diminishing club. Everyone around me seem incapable of walking down a street without having to be staring constantly down at their feet/pavement.
Oh sorry, that should be staring down at their mobile phone.
They cannot sit in the Drs, Dentists, on a bus, in a cafe' ....... without flicking through photos they've already seen a hundred times, checking up on every person they know in case their status on fb has changed in the last 5 minutes, or playing games.
In the cinema, while sitting waiting for the film to start...... they do not chat to their companions, or sit in quiet contemplation.
No, they play computer games.
I also find it very distracting when someone next to me has a glowing screen on whilst in the cinema..... so I was delighted recently when a member of staff came over and pointedly told the guy to switch it off or hand it over.
Hurray !!
Mobile phone guy turned it face down and tried to hide it, but security guy was having none of it and stood there until he turned the blessed thing off.
After phone was switched off and security guy left, mobile phone guy muttered about them making such a fuss about nothing.... clearly the embarrassment factor of whole cinema staring at him had the desired effect.
My son complained a while back that a group of students (based on age/appearance, not absolute knowledge) had sat filming with their mobile phones during a screening he attended.
I surpose in your case kalsha, now the film has been released the security wasn't as tight.0 -
At the preview screening of Saving Mr. Banks which I attended, one young man was told by the security person that he had to turn his mobile phone off or leave. He chose to leave.0

I've never seen this before today. Tonight's Walter Mitty screening says I should have the page from Heat where the screening was advertised. Anyone had any experience where they were denied entry if they didn't have it?“We are not interested in the fact that the brain has the consistency of cold porridge.” - Alan Turing (1912-1954)0

I know this isn't a useful reply - but it all depends on whoever is checking the pages. I've sometimes wandered in without even handing over the page, sometimes they check it, most of the time not. I once had a guy ask me for a page from a newspaper, I said I didn't have it, and then he asked for ID(!) which in my mind, doesn't really prove anything (it wasn't related to the film's certificate). At the end of the day, if there are seats available (and I'm sure there will be), and you feign ignorance/say you've driven a long way, I very much doubt they would refuse to let you in. Its not really in their interests.0 -
Annoying that none of the Mitty films are showing in Norwich!geordie_ben wrote: »Can't believe I missed your post and they are now all gone! And also don't have Sky. Thanks a lot, and !!!!!!.

I went to see Walter Mitty tonight. Sadly I never got to see the film.
Arrived in good time (about 40 minutes early) for a 6:30pm screening. At 6:45, we were told the film would start around 7pm. At 7:15pm, we were shown two trailers. Then at 7:30pm, we were told the film would start in about 10 minutes time. I waited another 10 minutes or so, then decided to leave. Several other people also left.
The bouncers would not allow use of mobile phones at all after 6:30pm, so I had nothing to do during this time, having read the Evening Standard at least three times.
I had planned to get food at a nearby chain restaurant after the film, however they would've been closed by the time the film ended had I waited for it to start.
I appreciate that the tickets are free, but what a waste of my evening.0
