Cinema Only Free Tickets Discussion thread

I was in Glasgow last night at the Sky Rewards screening of "The Call" - first time visiting the Cineworld city centre cinema and the auditorium was only about 75-80% full.
Shame that so many people reserved tickets and then didn't bother turning up when there are those who can't get them because the Sky website says they are "fully booked"
If people can't come, why don't they cancel their tickets instead of leaving dozens of empty seats which which could be given to someone else?0 -
It's the same as people not attending when they have booked an appointment with a GP - it is free so they don't think that someone else could benefit if they cancelled and released the ticket/appointment for someone who does want/need it.

It really ps me off! Majority will be down to laziness tho I accept some will be for genuine reasons (genuinely forgot, stuck in traffic/meetings etc so unable to cancel). This is why they should release more than required and it be on a first come first serve basis (with the exception of major screenings) for the smaller screenings I doubt too many would turn up and chances are no one will ever be refused entry due to cinema being full0

Our lovely Sky Rep recently told us that Sky release a certain amount of tickets. The Cinema then on the day allocates a screen for Sky, so although the cinema appears to be only 75-80% full if the cinema had allocated a smaller screen then people might have been turned away (This happens when Sky uses Vue in our area, they often allocate a smaller screen to Sky) so it may not be people not turning up for Sky sctreenings:)"Sealed Pot challenge" member No. 138

Your "lovely Sky rep" is wrong. All scheduled films are allocated at least a week in advance and the previews are arranged to show around them. To do what you say would mean the cinema possibly cancelling or moving a scheduled film to a different screen so that a free preview could be shown. Cinemas cannot do this and do not do this as paying customers would be inconvenienced.
Common sense if you think about it. Head Office make arrangements for all scheduled films and free previews. They decide which screen is used unless there is a problem on the night.0 -

I appreciate your view, but it doesn't take into account the fact that Sky allocate the same amount of tickets per screening, regardless of the size of the cinema screen(At that moment they will not know what size screen they will get), sometimes Sky get allocated a small screen with people being turned away and others they get allocated a large screen with lots of empty seats.
Still the same amount of Allocated tickets given out by the booking system, common sense as Sky will only want to pay £x of money per screening.
They would not need to cancel or move a scheduled film because Sky and presumably Showfilmfirst get allocated a screen which is not in use for a scheduled showing, regardless of size as previously mentioned
That being said, there are undoubtably people who do not turn up due to illness or simply circumstances making them unable to attend at very short notice or indeed just plain bad manners."Sealed Pot challenge" member No. 138

Just back from seeing Elysium. Not as good as I thought it would be going from the trailer
It's weird going to see 'proper' movies and having to sit thru loads of adverts lol0
