It quite clearly states for all free films that it is First Come First Served.
Virgin, Odeon, Sky etc owe you nothing if you don't get in. Quit moaning and get over it. You certainly have no right to premier seating in IMAX and btw the film was dreadful.
Pardon.
Was this directed at me ?
I don't think I have ever mentioned anywhere that I expect premier seating in IMAX
I also cannot remember claiming that anyone 'owed' me anything either....if I am mistaken, please direct me to my post where I did either of these things.
As to my posting on here in the first place.......
Apart from 'moaning', I thought it may be a useful 'heads up' to other peeps (especially newbies) to not take these screenings for granted, just because they are Virgin customers and have genuine tickets.
Thankfully I did not have to pay for parking on Tuesday, although the petrol costs were enough, but many people may not be so fortunate.
So whilst some screenings are far from full, please be aware arriving on time, or even early will not guarantee you a seat.... given the fraudulent actions of some.0 -
velocirapta wrote: »Dammit. Been to many ShowFilmFirst screenings and had no trouble getting in - I admit, been to a couple that have been almost full, but never that full. Generally that's because they've been at Picturehouse or Vue cinemas, but tonight was ridiculous. Definitely not cool that people are printing multiples and getting in that way - abusing the system so blatantly.
4 of us had to travel to Odeon Southampton from Winchester...so not exactly next door. Luckily enough the Virgin representative was lovely and got us tickets to see Oblivion IMAX on Saturday evening with premier seating. So not entirely a wasted trip.
/edit: just to reiterate, I am a Virgin Mobile customer and my dad is a Virgin Media customer, and we each got 2 genuine tickets with barcodes the night the tickets first went up. Not sure if people managed to cheat the website but assume it was a case of reprinting tickets, but we turned up at 6.10 and were told by the bouncers that they were just 'reshuffling' as people were sat with gaps in the seating, but were then told there was 1 space for 6 people. Felt sorry for the date couple that had just arrived after us, but I guess you can't rely on a free screening. I hope companies like this will have the sense to do more screenings spread across smaller cinemas, and on differing days or times, so there isn't so much tension created at these things. Apparently the first time it's been like that for a Southampton screening, at least one run by Virgin.The_Old_Bag wrote: »Pardon.

I think this member probably meant the comments to be directed at
velocirapta who did mention IMAX Premiere seating.0 -

Went to see Evil Dead on Monday at Bolton Cineworld. Was surprised to be all but cavity searched at the door. They had a guy check the contents of everyones bags, and a woman who made us stand there whilst she watched us all turn our phones off. Was rather rude when I showed her that I had just turned it off, stating that it wasn't off because the lights were still on at the bottom. Then proceeded to stand there starting at my phone until the lights finally went out (they take a really long time to go out for some reason).0

Saw 'love is all you need' last night, thought it was quite good a lot of subtitles as the characters speak in Danish quite a lot but it was definitely watchable. The story was good and had a couple of stories going on, some humour, some sad bits. We arrived just after 6 for 6.30 showing and had no problem getting a seat:)0

If I dare post a comment without getting my ear chewed off......
On the topic of security...
I also used to think staff were a bit ott with mobile phones - but then heard from a friend who had been annoyed because they sat behind someone who was recording the film on their mobile phone.
I must admit my phone is prehistoric, so I have no idea how you could record a 90+ minute film, but it just goes to show that this sort of thing does go on.
And for the record, this was during a normal screening, not a preview screening.0 -
Louface exactly the same thing happened to us on Monday at Bradford Cineworld same film Evil Dead.I am thinking its either a new Cineworld policy as this has never happened before or something that has been asked of them by the films releasing company.0
