I'm going to my first film tomorrow at a Showcase cinema. Can I just clarify a few things?

I've noticed a couple of comments mentioned that didn't look through bags: is that something that they might do (for video cameras, I'm guessing?)?
Is the crackdown on mobile phones for the same reason? Will I be fine if I keep it off?
And how early do you usually arrive?

I know they're silly questions, but I don't want to get turned away for something silly or not allowing enough time.

Oh, and what are the showcase cinemas like? Are they a 'sit anywhere' type cinema?

All previews are first come, first served. Seats are never allocated.
Mobile phones should never be used in a cinema regardless of it being a preview or not. Put it on silent and keep it in your bag and that will be sufficient.
As for times, I have answered that recently. Do a search for my posts to read comprehensive response.

Thank you for the response. I was just a bit concerned about the bag searching thing. That's never happened when I've been at the cinema normally and I usually carry snacks in my bag.

And 30 mins early it is then!

Hi im going to my first showing tonight.

It says get there for 6 for 6.30 start, do you then have to stay IN the cinema for that 30 minutes once you have your tickets or can you nip out?

Im so excited LOL

Do you just take the print out with you to the box office and they give you your tickets like normal when you would pay for them?

What are you going to see?

I'd recommend staying in your seat for 30 mins unless you're with someone else because otherwise your seat could be taken! The screenings can be totally full sometimes!

Don't go to the box office, take your print out straight to the ushers who check tickets and tell you what screen the film is in.

Unless someone is guarding your seat then you'll want to stay

you hand the print out to the person you normally hand the tickets to, not the person you buy them from

remember to take your own snacks and drinks too
