Sunday walks

Hubby and me are both over 60. I am still working though not for much longer.
We decided Sundays if not doing anything, are a bit boring so should take the opportunity of going for a walk.
However, especially this time of year places to walk have to fit into a certain criteria for me.
Walking locally gets a bit samey so I had the idea of looking up local government websites and looking up their local parks and open spaces.
I need the following.

I need the following.
- Toilets, if there isn't one I need to go:o
- Parking at least near by
- Cafe - preferably
- Not to far to drive
- Made up pathways especially this weather

Reservoirs often have good paths round them for walking and sometimes visitor centres with cafe, toilets. OS maps will also show parking/toilets. you can use something like multimap.com and can select OS map for a location. Any particular area you are thinking of?0

Maybe you should just invest in a treadmill or a cross trainer? Either that or National Trust membership?Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

We used this website http://www.getwalking.org/ and joined a walking group in Birmingham. We have found the walkers very friendly and weloming, there are probably groups in your area to join. Good luck I am sure you will enjoy it when you get started.0

Local authorities have organised walking groups that have done all the checking out for you - you could even go along once and then copy the route yourselves, knowing the distance, where the loo stops/cafe etc are. Find them on your local council (and nearby ones) websites
Enjoy your walkingYou never know how far-reaching something good, that you may do or say today, may affect the lives of others tomorrow0 -

Google it.
'Nuff said
I think I know every public loo within a 60 mile radius, and yes, if a loo is there I don't use it, but if there is no loo - I'm breaking my neck.0 -
Thanks for all your replies, lots to keep us going there.
I am concentrating on places fairly near at hand with the price of fuel being what it is.
Vfm I realise your post is tongue in cheek but the National Trust is not only expensive, we belonged for a year and did all the local ones plus once you've seen one stately home you've seen them all in my view.0 -

Now if you said roughly where that was you might get a lot of specific help. The only thing that is constant is change.0 -

OP already said they are bored - just how much more bored do you want them to get? :rotfl:You never know how far-reaching something good, that you may do or say today, may affect the lives of others tomorrow0 -

Erm, I didn't really post this for help, thanks anyway.
I was merely passing on what we were doing and remarking that local government websites carry good information about facilities in their local parks and open spaces.
Obviously I have taken onboard other peoples suggestions as new ideas are always helpful.
It is surprising how others read different things into the posts than the originator actually intends.0 -
As you're both over 60 would a bus pass be an option? Perhaps you could then go and explore different places on the bus route, some towns do suggested routes for tourists. Tourist Information might be able to give you the infor your're looking for.0
