parking restrictions for school lines and single yellow lines at the same time

I need advice. I parked on school yellow zig zag lines within the times on the school sign that was displayed. However there was also a single yellow line there too. I got a parking ticket, which I appealed but was unsuccessful. should i appeal further on the grounds of confusing signs and one rule seems to be over riding the other?

  • I think you were lucky to some extent. Had the BIB caught you it would have been points as well. Second the Pepipoo suggestion.

Do you mean within the times that the school zigzags were in force?
  • No I was parked outside of the enforced times on the school zig zags i.e. midday during term time. But there is also a single yellow line in addition to the usual school lines. This is what is confusing i.e. what is the point of the school sign indicating times inwhich you can park there, when the single yellow line overrides this?!

The zig zags are 'Keep Clear' times - IE in case a fire engine needs to pull in to extinguish a fire.

The yellow lines are 'No Waiting' times. That doesn't mean you can park there but it does mean you can load/unload quickly or pick up / drop off passengers and move on.

I repeat, Keep Clear unenforced times do not mean you can park there at other times of the day if there is also a yellow line and its a common setup outside schools. The point is, you've two yellow markers, common sense should tell you not to take the mick shouldn't it?

So which is it? - You were or were not on the zig zags during the enforced times?

But you were still on the yellow line which ran through it. That then only allows you to load and unload or to pick up or drop off passengers. Yellow lines mean 'No Waiting'. If you can't wait there in the car then you certainly can't park either.

What made you think that the zigzags being out of the prescribed times meant you could park on the yellow line that was in force?

The zig zag just means that during those times you must keep that part of the road clear for emergency access. At other times you may load /unload or pick up / drop off. Thats it.

Quite logical when you think about it really isn't it.

Mia cat you ned to put a close-up photo of both sides of your PCN on your pepipoo thread so they can hlp you win this:

Interlog said ''Post up a scrubbed copy of the PCN (minus personal details such as name/address/VRM/PCN number), a copy of your representations and the response from the Council.

If possible, also a link to Google Streetview of the location the alleged contravention occurred. ''
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Are you sure? Parking on white zigzags [pedestrian crossing] is endorseable, but not yellow ones.

Just don't park on zig-zags at all. Simples.

It's a school and there marks that say 'keep clear'. Times wouldn't even enter my head.
