Quick ISP Question!

I've just been told by bt (after me calling them), that my contract is cancelled due to my request after numerous issues with them, the person in the call centre has said it should be on for a couple more days, but I quickly need to find a new isp while I'm online!!
I've been trawling around for a couple of days, and searching on this forum to see wha people say about them, and I think I've come to the conclusion that they all seem to be as bad as each other for customer service!!
I'd like an isp that doesn't have an indian call center, good customer service, reliable connection, and correct billing!!
I've been suffering with less than half a meg from BT, after being told I 'could' have 6mb on my line and my paying for up to 8!! But I think a minimum of 2mb would be enough speed for me, don't really understand the download limits LOL, but I don't tend to download much music or films etc..
Anyone got any recommendations?????

Also, a quick addition!!
BT gave me a wireless hub which I'm guessing they'll want back, I 'think' my connection is secure, is this easy to do if I have to go out and by a new wireless hub???0 -
as you aren't an über downloader
, then my isp, Newnet is worth a look
http://www.newnet.co.uk/broadband/home.php
download speeds *up to 8MB* (depending on quality of your line of course)
But don't expect 8MB, no one using MAX (a BT product) actually achieves that
just ran this one

possibly the Home M package, which is priced at £17.95/month (monthly account) and comes with a 12 GB allowance, and can also buy a top up if required.
if you can get a MAC code out of BT, then you can switch for free.
Yes, BT will want their box of tricks back, so you'll need another wifi modem/router, something along the lines i mentioned in this post

I left a very bad ISP (even7 ) and went to Eclipse Internet. I have found Eclipse really great, utterly reliable, never goes down, intelligent customer service, £14.99 and can honestly say I have never ever had a single problem in over 1 year & on the relevant sites they are very highly regarded.0

I have just left Nildram after being with them for a few years, found them OK but it galled me that they offered free calls but their helpline was a chargeable number i.e. not an 01 number.
I have changed to fast.co.uk - a few £ cheaper than Nildram for the same package, getting my free calls now from Sky. Also they only have a sign up period of 3 months, although I think there is a £20 charge if you leave before 12 months.
Switchover happened yesterday as promised, rang the helpline with a modem glitch on an 01 number (and therefore a free call), answered immediately by a UK based person, problem solved and they rang me back within 5 minutes after a line test rather than having me hang on the line.
Very impressed with the service so far, I have been with a few ISPs and they are generally all OK until you have a problem - BT were terrible. I am an online gamer and the person I was talking to didn't know what a ping was.....0 -
Many, Many thanks for all the feedback so far and linkie things!!!
I called bt again as I was told this morning my contract had been cancelled and I wanted the mac number and was told I couldn't as they had cancelled my contract grrrrrrrrr
I called again this afternoon and was told my contract hadn't been cancelled 'yet' and that someone should call me first - but they couldn't tell me when grrrrrrrrrrrrrr
I feel like I'm in limbo LOL
