NEW Acer N35 PDA & Integrated GPS - no GPS signal

  • depends on the way you connect it to the pda. is it by wires or wirless?

    is you tomtom legit?
  • You WILL want to test it outdoors. GPS signals are very poor at going through things so its unlikely you would get a signal indoors unless you were near a window.

If the GPS is built in on the Acer (as it is on the Navman pin570) you will need:-

Other NMEA Gps>GPS Baud Rate 9600>GPS On Navigator (or similar - may say "on Acer"?)

If afterwards it says "No Gps Device" the GPS power is usually turned off and can be altered in your Windows Settings.

The first time the device ever gets a lock may take some time, although it should be faster on later occasions. It is normally best to keep stationary while you obtain a lock.

the gps is built into the acer but im not given the option mention above of other nmea unless its the cable one on the list above. im thinking of sending the damn thing back as i thought it would be simple but its nothing but hassle. i have left it right against the window for ages and nothing, just searching for valid gps signal flashing for ages.

the tomtom software is one ive borrowed until i decide whether 5 or 6 is best for me and my needs. does this make a difference to the signal?

thanks again and im sorry for being a pain.

  • you need an external antenna (MMCX connection) if you want to get signal from inside the house, with bad weather its even worse.
read this review, specially the updates:

  • ok got a signal finally :) and just when im starting to like my little friend it tells me i havnt selected a voice but since i got silly hubby to put the voices on the sd card its now not seeing the maps on the sd card. im starting to dislike it again :)

anyone wanna buy a acer :)
  • i think your problem is that the copy you have isnt legit and wants you to copy everyting to a sd card and then place some files here and there. you need to know what you are doing or have patience to work it out.

p.s. version 6 is better because the maps are newer.
