I have bought the above and bought a 1gig SD card and installed tomtom5 onto it. For some reason when i try to use it says there is no GPS signal. How can I get this thing to work. Its driving me mad. It just searches for a signal and thats it. Any advice greaty appreciated before I throw it out the window and go back to route planner
Thanks
Carol

Thanks

Does tomtom know where your GPS reciever is??
Go into 'change preferences'
'show GPS status'
'configure'
and select your onboard gps reciever from there.
Hope this helps0 -
im totally new to using this. where do i find change preferences please.
thanks for your help0 -
Tap the main map screen, which should bring up the main menu, scroll left or right until you see 'change preferences' then follow the info above...
Also, check the manule the gps may have to be powered on, it could be set to off to save battery power...0 -
Try to see if you get a GPS connection outside your car. If you can, it might be because you have a windscreen with a reflective coating that blocks GPS signals. In that case you'll need to purchase an external GPS antenna for your GPS receiver.- = I also recognise the Robins and beep for them = -0

You have tried it by a window if you in the house, haven't you ? The gps signel isn't that strong and you'll, normally, only get a lock if your near a window...0

You're probably even better standing outside just to make absolutely sure it's not the GPS signal itself. As Jon 01 said, the satellite signals aren't all that strong and of course the satellites are in continuous motion so best to be in an open space."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Add to the fact that it can take up to 1-2 minutes for the GPS receiver to get a fix from cold start (having no previous GPS fix)- = I also recognise the Robins and beep for them = -0

Mine wont work in the house at all, but works fine in the car. I have a medion. You really need to try it outdoors and it can take several minutes to find a signal (on one occasion half an hour) but it has always got there in the end.Gas doc on the loose0
