I think paypal is the only thing. I've had great success with quite a lot of interest from all over the place. I have posted items to Sweden, Italy, Canada, USA, Holland, Belgium, Ireland.

The reason I asked Angel was that in her earlier post she specifically said she had listed these without paypal. I always use paypal and so was interested in what other foreign payment methods she has found.

Cafenervosa, like you I've always found foreign buyers to be no problems at all except a few Americans that seem to think we use dollars and list in dollars, oh and a few Germans for whom paypal appears to be a problem. They all got sorted out though in the end.

Gotta love the ease of use and quick nature of Paypal, but those fee's are so annoying. Especially on top of eBay's fee's. I may offer a percentage discount for payment via other methods in future, but I don't see how I can list it explicitly because don't paypal take a different cut depending how much it is? And I won't know how much it goes for..

I think cheques takes longer!! definately! some people may not be bothered to walk up to the post box or can't til someone else can! I get a cheque about 5-7 after the auction and some of the times I have to remind people that they need to pay me!

I agree people tend to forget about paying when it comes to cheques, even guilty of it myself. Also as previous OP said cheques can take a really long time to be cleared on your account. The funds show on your account as cleared but technically they arent. My bank advised me to wait two weeks before shipping stuff !
Someone said earlier that they hate sellers who dont post items out with cheque payments until 7 days but this is NOT unreasonable. I live in scotland and english cheques take 7 days till the funds show on my account - and then technically they are not cleared. If people are in a hurry they should pay another way - postal orders, obvious paypal, bank transfer.I HATE the payapl charges but it is far quicker than the cheque way and less hassle despite the big charges. People forget their cheque has to clear and become very impatient - could result in an unfair neg.
Back to original question safest way for a buyer to pay is definately payapl using your credit card. That way you have double protection.

you could guess at what the end price is going to be and just work out the paypal charges from that then offer x pence off the final price for anyone paying by bank transfer, etc
