County Parking demand now with bailiffs

Options
I received a letter today from Philips (specialist Bailiff and debt recovery agents from Darlington) informing me that if I do not pay one hundred and 30 pounds within 7 days I may incur additional charges of no less than 45 pounds.
Is this firm related to County Parking from Blisworth, Northamptonshire? The letter states "that despite our previous demands for payment you have failed the clear your arrears". This is the first letter I have received from the bailiffs.
I am now really worried. What is going to happen now?

If this is concerning a private parking ticket then Philips are wearing their powerless debt recovery hats, and are not acting as bailiffs. Unless you get proper court papers then just ignore.

Phillips are scumbags, they are not acting as bailiffs, they are acting as debt collectors! They have no powers at all, but they try and trick people into paying their invoices by having bailiffs all over the paperwork! If I was you I would complain to trading standards about their deception.

Let me reiterate they are NOT bailiffs in this case, ignore them!
Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?

Let's hope your local TS are one of the better ones...but BTW if you try to RING Trading Standards you can't unless you have a direct line to them. You will get redirected to 'Consumer Direct' if they still exist. They are hopeless on the subject of scam fake PCNs, as bad as most Citizen's Advice Bureaux whose biased info was actually written by the BPA!

If the person you speak to starts spouting a load of rubbish and suggesting there is any instance in which you should pay this spurious invoice then forget their advice, in fact complain about it.

Hope you have a better discussion than others have been subjected to by these so-called services which purport to protect the public from scams.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

My local TS have a direct number and email address , and are pretty good to be honest, they dealt with a complaint about a scammer's website straight away , and passed it onto the TS of the area the scammers were in, they are pretty knowledgeable about private parking tickets as well, which is good.

  • Have spoken to Consumer Direct (no help from trading standards). I will be notified by letter if it goes to court. If a bailiff turns up at my home without a court order, I AM NOT legally obliged to answer door or let him/her in. My car cannot be clamped. If a court order is to be granted, I will be notifed in writing.
I can also pay the full £130 by cheque, but write on the rear of the cheque "paid under protest", then take County Parking to small claims court at a cost of £30.

You are still taking these clowns too seriously. They won't take you to court and you don't owe them a penny. Just ignore them from now on.

You could do, but would be unlikely to get them to pay back the £130, plus you would have just thrown £30 down the drain!
