Hey a bit tough on our newbie there, some of you guys, yes we know all about these crooks but there are still honest folk out there like Blacksmith who don't realise they are not dealing with a bona fide company when they get these demands... glad to hear it was only £40 you gave them rather than £80, still £40 more than they were entitled to, but at least you now know never to do it again... Completely blank them, I don't think you will see your money again, even if you report the cheque stolen it will come up as having gone through the payee's bank account so gets you nowhere.
Now spread the story to as many of your friends as you can, so that if any of them fall victim they will know not to pay.0 -
Like all scammers they will come back for more and more money with more threats.
You have to ignore them sooner or later or they will empty your bank account.
I feel sorry for you, you have fallen for a authority impersonation scam.
Now you must put a stop to it before they really turn you over.
You need to do what you should have done first, ignore them.
Now it is your only choice, or start making a list of what you can sell, they will keep coming back !Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
Please do not be tough on this newbie, there are millions out there that fall prey to these scammers. At least this person has learnt from their lesson, harsh be it and wont repeat it and hopefully spread the word about pcn's. Cancel any cheque if you can and treat any correspondance as loo roll0

Blacksmith wrote: »Hi
I recently had a ticket from UKPCC which I put my hands up and paid. Interestingly I couldn't get the online website to work and the phone line (national rate) payment kept going dead. So I resorted to post and sent the cheque via first class well within time. UKPCC cashed the cheque 4 days after the deadline and never acknowledged receipt and kept demanding £80 as if I had never sent a cheque. They have not responded to my letters and now ramped it up to £140 with a letter from debt recovery plus. After emailing debt recovery plus they have now very kindly dropped it to £100!
Have I weakened my position by paying in the first circumstance? Can these compaines really affect your credit rating?
Mug.
And no, unless they get a CCJ against you via the courts (very unlikely) they can't affect your ability to get into lots of debt like the rest of the country.
Of course now you've read this, you've entered into a contract to pay me £200 for my time. I'll take paypal thankyou0 -
theres not enough people who know not to pay these so called 'parking tickets' i went to metro centre last week (gateshead) there was car reversing onto some chevrons (presumably just doing a turnaround) but some old man sitting in his car near by said to me "he doesnt want to park there i got a ticket for just being on the line in disable bay" i asked when he'd got the ticket he said the week before hand, i told him "dont pay it!" too late he'd already paid it, i briefly told him about not paying etc... and asked him if had access to internet or if he knew someone who did, he said his son, i said to him please please find out the info on these rip off companies, poor bloke0
