UKPCC claiming late payment

Hi
I recently had a ticket from UKPCC which I put my hands up and paid. Interestingly I couldn't get the online website to work and the phone line (national rate) payment kept going dead. So I resorted to post and sent the cheque via first class well within time. UKPCC cashed the cheque 4 days after the deadline and never acknowledged receipt and kept demanding £80 as if I had never sent a cheque. They have not responded to my letters and now ramped it up to £140 with a letter from debt recovery plus. After emailing debt recovery plus they have now very kindly dropped it to £100!
Have I weakened my position by paying in the first circumstance? Can these compaines really affect your credit rating?

Why did you pay? Did you really cost them £80 by your actions?
Your best bet, cancel the cheque if they haven't cashed it and now begin to do what you should have done and ignore them entirely.
You owe them nothing, these are unenforceable invoices. This is a well known trick, they land a mark (as in SCAM!) and then up the price.
These companies cannot do anything to your credit rating unless they take you to court (very unlikely), win (massively unlikely) and then you didn't pay. But that ain't gonna happen because they can't prove that your actions caused £80 of damages to them. You've been suckered. If you can't cancel your cheque you've learnt a costly lesson. Ignore these scammers.
Edit to add: see your cheque has been cashed. That money is gone, but you don't owe them anything, so just ignore.0 -
oh dear,, why pay an unenforceable invoice, its not a ticket believe me,,advice,,cancel cheque if still time,,and totally ignore all future correspondance/threat o grams from these morons, no legal powers to do js to you.0

You should never have paid in the first place, but having found this forum you probably (I hope) know that now.
Maybe you should write to them, saying that it would appear that the cheque has been stolen and fraudulently cashed (since they deny having received the money), and that you'll be reporting it to the police, so they can track down the fraudsters. I wonder what their response would be.0 -
Just ignore them, why why why didn't you check this out first ? These sods know you have paid, you have proof of that as the cheque has been cashed , and they refuse to acknowledge that. You could now sue them for harrassment and honestly if it was me I would. Also report them to trading standards, and your local paper and drop a line to bbc watchdog.
And next time it happens don't pay them sod all ! And if someone called Peter Haswell starts contacting from that company I wouldn't give the time of day to reply him, he is their office manager who likes lurking on Internet forums and specialises on victimising disabled drivers.Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?0 -
Usual story. Person falls for the scam and pays up. Parking company knows they have a mug and so send another letter saying the payment was late or not enough hoping to get another cheque.
You've been conned. You'll know for next time - never ever pay.0 -
And I suppose debt recovery plus don't do maths ! They wanted £140 but you have already paid £80 towards this, so that leaves £60 I believe , so not only have they increased your costs to £180 in total , they must think you are bloody stupid as well. Really this won't go any further beyond threats of doom and damnation, they are pathetic!Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. Ouch the late payment scam strikes again, if you don't feel like bouncing the cheque, you should now ignore them anyway, they have scammed you out of £80, so they should think themselves lucky, if it had been me they would have diddly squat.0
-
Prove again that once the scammers have their teeth into a payer, they will try and get more money out of them citing late payment. They like payments by cheque as they can claim the post was late.0
-
I obviously should have read these forums before. Sorry I didn't clarify i paid £40 to make the early deadline. They've since told me that they received it the day after the deadline. They still have no answer as to why they kept sending me demands for £80 with a £0 in the column for funds received. I've sent them a copy of the cheque with the date on from my bank. I'm going to stop any further correspondance.0

They will try and shake more money out of you, the cheque probably arrived in good time, but they are using the old excuse "it must have got held up in the post" to try and claim late payment fees.
But if they are saying they haven't received the cheque on the paperwork, report it as stolen to the bank using their evidence as prove someone else must have cashed it0
