    Need a bit of advice:

Bought some fruit and veg from Lidl last week. Onions (when they were on the half price deal) and clemintines - after a few days noticed one of the clemintines had puffed into a ball of green so chucked it out. Next day, same thing, and same again. :(

The onions looked lovely. Bit when chopping in half the middle was totally rotten :( brown squishy centre. The happened on about 4 out of the 7 onions.

Had anyone else had this? Is it something im doing to cause this? Or do you think i've just been unlucky? I store the clemintines in the fruit basket along with applies and kiwi's. and I store the onions in a dark, dry cupboard.

I have had this happen to me as well. Nowadays I check every piece of fruit and veg before I buy.

Also when I get home I remove all the packaging and again check each item. Anything that looks a bit suspect is used straight away.

I do not keep any fruit in a bowl, I keep mine in a fridge drawer. I also keep my potatoes, onions and veg in a cloth bag in another fridge drawer. I find doing this my fruit/veg keeps much longer.

    HTH

Fresh British Beef Lean Frying Steak - 340g Pack - £1.24 is my half-price offer.
I found it pretty tough last time when frying, but great for braising/slow cooking. Not my 1st choice, but at the price I'll get 2 packs to freeze. TBH, I would rather have paid the extra for the rump steak.

We've got rump steak this week, will probably pick up a pack or 2, OH likes steak for dinner, but I dont think these packs will be right for that but stir frys will be okay, and it's a good price.

Will pop along first thing on Saturday.

I'm trying to find out if any other nearish stores have a different offer - then i could take advantage of both, but no luck so far!

I need to get some cling flim/kitchen foil/ toilet roll this week, does anyone know how the prices in lidl compare to the sainsburys basics range?

If i can do my whole shop in lidl and avoid sainsbobs (as much as i like the shop) and save money that would be a winner.

Lidl 30m roll of foil (30cms wide) is £1.99. It's called Aromata extra strong and is good quality.

That would be a no from me. I save OH enough money that he can afford to buy me an EDT of Chanel No 5 now and again ie probably one or two a year. I've been wearing it since I was 19 and it may not be fashionable but I love the vanilla smell and my Pa who died in 2010 always loved it on me so I won't stop wearing it now.
