Husbands walked out what do i do?

The op says she cannot get hold of her ex, surely she must know where he works??? Before getting the CSA involved, which is always to be avoided if possible, I'd try for a mutual agreement first. Also go to the council to see if help is available for rent costs and also council tax.0

You poor thing. Is there nobody who might know where your husband is? His parents (who must surely want to still see their baby grandchild?!) or his friends? Surely he still works at the same place too? I hope you can get lots of practical advice about what you are now entitled to. Good luck to you and your baby.DMP Mutual Support Thread member 244

bless you. You will be fine and you will get through this - just take it a step at a time.
1. Claim for Tax Credits immediately and ask to back date. They may not back date but they will at least back date to the day you make the claim so it's better than nothing. You will need your baby's childminder or nursery Ofstead registration number to be able to claim for help with childcare.
2. Speak to your local council - you need a single person's discount on your Council Tax immediately and you need an application form for Council Tax Benefit. You will also get your Housing Benefit application form from your council.
3. You might be eligible for Healthy Start Vouchers - these will come automatically with your tax credits if you are so don't worry about them too much.
4. If your husband is no where to be found, you need to go to the CSA and open a claim. The CSA do not back date claims at all so if you hang about for a couple of months, you'll lose that money. I would try and contact him but at least leave a message on his mobile saying you can't manage all the bills yourself and he will need to help out with your child who is a joint responsibility. Tell him he needs to make an arrangement with you by X date (don't leave it too long) or you will go to the CSA. If you hear nothing, go to the CSA. You can apply to the CSA online.
5. Your local CAB can do a benefits check and it is well worth getting the help with this. Start the ball rolling with everything and then make an appointment - you'll probably have to wait a few weeks anyway as most are very busy. Alternatively, if you feel you're on top of things, you can run your details through an online benefits calculator such as https://www.turn2us.org.uk which will give you a good idea as to what you should receive.
Deal with the practical stuff and everything else will follow. Take care.0 -
I thought healthy start vouchers were just if you were on IS or JSA etc xThe feeling i got when i confirmed my place studying criminology at Exeter Uni was brilliant!!!!!

9 Months ago your Partner was a full time student earning £100 per week as a pizza delivery boy??? Wow! Hell of a 9 Months you 2 must have had.......
Getting sick of these trolling posts! Sigh0 -
You would still of gotten child tax credits.
Eh? How do you work that one out?
My hubby earns circa £80k per annum. You think we get tax credits, do you? :rotfl:Science adjusts its views based on what's observed.

it still has both of ours but the tenacy ageement ran out in 2010 we just used to pay the landlord and he doesnt kick us out kind of agreement. So a mutral agreement i think its called now.
Oh right no we were earning over £68k (before baby) a year so we were told we werent allowed any help...
Either this is a lie or the post you made where your boyfriend was earning £100-150 a week was a lie - whichever it is I don't believe a word you say and, to quote the Dragons, "I'm out!".0 -
Even if this post was true, (im not convinced) this is where the benefits system falls flat on its ar*e. If the OP contacted the CSA she would be entitled to 20% of her ex's income roughly £200 per week and still get paid tax credits as if she had no income whatsoever.Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0

No - you can get them on a low income if you don't receive working tax credit - I think it's the £16k threshold (or thereabouts) but don't quote me. I certainly got them a couple of years ago whilst pregnant but working 14 hours a week.0 -
