Husbands walked out what do i do?

Hello,
I have a 9 month old daughter, after xmas my husband up't and left without a word.
I'v come back from maternity leave and now back at work doing 16 hours a week.
I cant get hold of my husband to ask for a ait of help, ive never been on benefits or anything before as he earned a high wage.
i dont really no where to begin.
All im getting is £20.30 child benefit and my wages £370 every 4 weeks.
Any help would be great.
P.S im only 20.

Do you rent or own your property? Who is on the rental contract or mortgage?0

You should also be getting child tax credits and working tax credits. Did you not apply for these when baby was born?0

look for a welfare officer in your area, council have them but local welfare offices also have them, they will find what you are entitled to and help you sort it out.0

i wasnt entitled to any help as our income was too high.
And we were renting.0 -
You would still of gotten child tax credits. Apply again now. You may get help with the rent, whos name is on the tenancy agreement?0

it still has both of ours but the tenacy ageement ran out in 2010 we just used to pay the landlord and he doesnt kick us out kind of agreement. So a mutral agreement i think its called now.
Oh right no we were earning over £68k (before baby) a year so we were told we werent allowed any help...0 -
Get a claim in for Tax Credits straight away and you may be able to back date it to when your circs changed. You should also get the majority of your rent paid so speak to the Housing. If you are paying childcare you will get 70% towards this.0

No, it's known as a periodic tenancy actually - this is what it automatically becomes when the fixed term expires.
The following advice applies to England/Wales - This means that you can give one months notice to end it or the landlord issues you with 2 months notice, timed to expire with the rental period.
Are you definately on a joint contract? If you are a joint tenant (both signed the contract), either tenant can end it, it doesn't require a joint signature to serve notice.
Also, it means a joint tenant can take up occupation whenever they like so you might like to change it over to a sole tenancy once you've considered all your options, including whether you can afford it.
See the Shelter website for info on how your tenancy operates. They also have a relationship breakdown section which will also help you understand your rights and his obligations - his non-occupation doesn't stop his liability for the rent if he's a joint tenant.
You can identify your LHA rate on the Direct Gov website. For a lone parent with a single child, for example, this will be a 2 bedroom property regardless of the size of property you live in, and is based on the lower third of local market rents.
Is there any shortfall between the LHA rate and the rent the landlord charges? Are you in any danger of getting into rent arrears before any housing benefit is sorted? Do you have capital (savings, shares, etc) in your name or jointly above 6k or below 16k.
