Mates rates from Virgin Media is only something you can get if you have a friend or relative that works for Virgin Media and that person introduces you as part of their permitted quota. So it not open to everyone only those whose qualify. What I fail to understand that nowhere are the Mates Rates for 2012 published and show what they include. I know my friend can give me some idea but he is not in full knowledge of cost and what is include, length of contract etc. We do not want to keep bothering him. We need to made a comparrison with other options including Sky Friends and Family which is another option open to us and it is much easier to obtain information about. My query is why cannot the Mates rates be put on a web site. It is no use to anyone unless they qualify. Can they be found anywhere

Since VM choose, quite understandably not to publicise these rates, you'll have to find out from your friend who works for them. If he doesn't know the exact rates, he can ask a colleague or his manager. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

I believe they are currently £41.01 a month which includes Telephone,Broadband,TIVO box, and XL package. I cannot confirm this figure. You will need to ask your friend/relative who works for Virgin Media to confirm.0

I was amazed today to receive a letter from Virgin Media advising me my monthly direct debit would be increased by £3.50 a month, I am still in the period of my 18 month contract and In thought I was committed to staying with Virgin Media for 18 months and on the other hand iI did not expect to have to pay any increase during this period. It seems all wrong to me0

No, it is not wrong. You did not agree to a fixed price contract, they can increase the prices at any time, just like your other utility suppliers. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

They can indeed raise the price but part J3 of the agreement gives you 30days to cancel if they do.

But if you do, you'll need to arrange to install a BT-based landline instead to get any other ADSL broadband service. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Maybe if one isn't present but that's a different issue.0
