So on a flight from Newcastle to London the fare comes in at £22 per person, then the taxes, fees, charges and surcharges come in at an extra £90.64!!!
How can the Government, airports etc charge this much it is a total rip-off. More exposure needs to be done about this on the radio, internet and tv to find out exactly why its so much!
    Anyone else agree?

Airlines don't show full price up-front shocker!

Would you prefer them to say it was £112.64 to start with then?

£22 isn't an airfare. Not even on Ryanair.

Yes I would. Whatever I buy, I want to know the actual cost of the product. This way, I can make my choice by comparing several like-for-like quotes. With the current system, if you want to select a flight based on cost only, you have no idea which is the cheapest because their adverts bear no relation to actual cost.

Well most of the airline websites I book with actually provide a breakdown of the costs - and yes - it does make for uncomfortable reading.

The reality is that it is pointless moaning about it as a significant proportion of the price on any flight is made up of additional charges - so it is pointless looking at the components of the price as it is the final price that is relevant.

What does annnoy me though are credit card charges imposed on top of the price.

Now that is a subject where more exposure needs to be done about this on the radio, internet and tv to find out exactly why its so much!.............or perhaps this has already been done as this is now being looked at.

But if this practice is outlawed - the airlines will recoup that charge in other ways such as a booking fee.

I'm in Thailand and girls are now over £15 per night (for the matching pair)
That's + £6 each way if you use the wrong plastic and don't even ask about
    priority boarding!

    I still blame Gordon

Why do you need a matching pair? I was always told that variety is the spice of life.

And don't the girls provide their own plastic?

I'm somewhat confused by the OP as when I book tickets the prices include taxes, fees, charges and surcharges when I see them. Occasionally they may not be totally accurate but that is normally because there's a choice of routing or timings.

The only place where I know where the headline price bears no relationship to the final price is the US but even they are changing the law so that all compulsory items must appear in the first price.

I find it fairly simple to look at the column on the right and see what the cost is as I add my requirements

Sort of reminds me of people that buy something on ebay for £10 with £10 postage
and then complain that £20 isn't a bad overall price but a tenner for post is a rip off
