Hi everyone
Hugs to all that need them. Just trying to catch up on posts a bit - work has been so busy this past week that I've barely had a spare minute to get online.
I spent a total of £37.72 today on groceries - thought it was more, but remembered had to buy tights for dd and pants for OH, which come out of a separate budget.
I'm off work next week, so will be spending more, but I'll also be on here catching up and getting more motivated.Ninja Saving Turtle0 -
The last time I bought kitchen scales (must be at least 9 years ago now!) I made sure it was one that took standard batteries - and then I made sure I had rechargeables of that type in the house. Mine's started to tell me it's low this morning, so I'm about to take it out and stick it in the charger - while replacing it with one I charged up ready a couple of weeks ago
It's more than worth me doing this, 'cos it's used a lot every day - I'm monitoring my nutritional balance (carbs, protein and fat), so have to know the weight of everything I eat to put into a website food diary....
Great idea and one that I would keep in mind if I was to buy some new bones - but yesterday was my b'day and I didn't know whether to laugh or cry, but DD2 gave me a new kitchen digital scale -in red to match other bits I have!
Bless her,she heard my awailings the day before and went out and tracked me some more - she didn't think to just buy batteries for my old one! But I must admit she did price check lots in town and they are much nicer and sleeker than my old scale- My Dad bought those for me one Xmas years ago so I might pass these ones onto DD1 to use as she just has a little one that is not very accurate (I might even buy the batteries too!)
Oh and I know someone too who has an app on their phone for a particular fitness/diet thing and they have lost over 3 stone from just healthy eating through tracking their food intake with it- they have done lots of different diets in the past and this is the only one I have actually known them to stick to as they are actually calorie counting(without actually doing it themselves if you get my jist)- they eat sensibly but it's controlled and if they fancy a bit of chocolate its typed/swiped the bar code in and it's accounted for in that days allowance.
Definitely if you are app person and love using phones/social network sites daily etc then look into these type of things as they do seem to aid weight loss.Crazy Clothes Challenge 2012 £57.20/£100,CCC 2013 £68.67/£100 ,CCC 2014 £94.32/£100

Went to A1di today and spent £27.46, and then went to Mr A's and spent another £32.36, was very pleased with this as I took a large trolley both times and they were both quite full, so now well stocked up and shouldn't need much more before the end of the month.Weight loss challenge 2/10lbs

Tesco has delivered my groceries. Lovely driver, everything fresh and good dates, no substitutions. So I am a happy bunny. £51.00 to add to my total.
Tonights dinner was Bacon and veg risotto in the SC (recipe in the collection). Clean plates all round. Popcorn for pudding again by popular demand.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0 -

Evening all!
I've just got back from my friend's house. I met up with her earlier to go house hunting with her, and it turned into me having dinner at her house! Result! I have cooked loads for her, so I don't feel bad about it, and it made it another nsd gc-wise. Tomorrow i need to get back into healthy eating again - i ate loads and loads and loads of carp last week as i was ill, and that has to stop now. I get a bit addicted to the sweet stuff if i'm not careful...
Will either shop on mon or tues am for the half term week; won't need too much as i have loads of baking stuff in already. The children and i are going to be making each other some love cookies! Basically, heart shaped cookies with I love mummy etc written on! Wow, I know how to live on valentine's day!
Enjoy the rest of your weekend everyone,

Frugal 2018 needed! Saving and NOT spending0 -
Just discovered I double counted about £10 in my Jan budget so I did better than I thought.
Latest victory: using bargain cod pieces (£3/kg at fishmongers) in Thai style fish cakes. What a result! Dh and I loved them, tho too spicy for DS 1 and 2. All the more for the adults! They can have them plain with dipping sauce.
btw HB had great small (cube) boxes of tissues for about 35p recently, good even for sore noses.0 -
Hello Everyone
Have just caught up with the last 3 days posts, hugs to those that need them - stay strong, we're all here with you.
Last week I posted that I would just be doing a small shop, but DH decided to come with me and we ended up with quite a trolley full........
Managed to do a much smaller shop this week, and also had 5 NSD's - I haven't set myself a NSD target, but am monitoring them out of interest at the moment as I'm trying to stop popping into supermarkets looking for whoopsies and coming out with other things!
My total so far is £95.50 so I think I should be ok to keep under budget this month.0 -
Hey lovely people,
Been lurking and reading this thread and January challenge for ages now - been so inspired by you all !:)
Have decided that enough is enough and I'm gonna have to give this challenge a go. Have added up what I've spent on food/toiletries/household etc this pay month and it's a whopping £285.62 so far :eek::eek:
May not sound much for a family, but there's only me and OH! Not even any pets!!!
So - as payday is the 23rd, going to join the March challenge with a little headstart and in the meantime have done an inventory of what we've already got in the cupboards and freezer. Have totally shocked myself with the amount there already (and thrown out a few tins from 2010 :embarasse ) so we are well set to spend less next month.
Going to set the total at £220 per month, which seems totally realistic for 2 adults, provided we don't spend masses on takeaways and wasting stuff like last month.....
Plenty in the freezer, so hopefully will even come in at much less, but taking the advice of others and starting small. Would be great to shave a little off each month though.
So - thanks so much for all the tips and motivation and will start recording spends/totals on the March challenge.
Lovethenight0
