Morning all :) We're now up to £256.85 against our £400 budget - which isn't too bad - but probably higher than I'd like at this moment in the month - but we have survived half term (although we are going out today - but I think I'll include the limited food spends planned as entertainment, as we've done nothing else)

Went to A!di rather than T's last night (desperately needing milk) on the basis I'd spend less.. still spent £24 - but that did include a cherry tree, 2 bags of seed potatoes and a packet of seeds - none of which are included in GC, so have removed from total spends - and OH snuck in some Creme eggs (which no-one really likes!) and a Snickers (which he ate whithout me ever seeing it - I just saw it on the receipt!!) He also had a MCDs breakfast yesterday (£3.59!!) because he was too lazy to get toast or cereal here - grrrrr!

Still do-able here - I have most things in for sandwiches next week, but will need more bread, yogurts and fruit and veg on Sunday at the very least. Ideally would like to stay out of smkts until then...... ;)

Morning all. Had a small spend of £3.49 yesterday but have parceled up books to trade in with Amazon to the tune of nearly £40 so thankyou for the tip. My bedhead shampoo is on Amazon so I am hoping to "buy" the shampoo with the gift vouchers. Its a luxury I know but I have really strange hair which needs taming!!

Aiming for a NSD today - putting a ys ham hock in the slow cooker for soup, cooking mince (extended by soya / lentils) for a batch shepherds pie, cooking Nigella's breakfast bars and cooking the magic lemon pudding from page 1 of this thread. Its not often that I have time for so much cooking.

    Have a great day xx

    Hi all,
Damp grey day today, planning a short run to wake me up (kill or cure!).

Am@zon delivery of Sheba came today, about £2 off a box of 32 square packs, thanks to the OP for that tip, sorry can't recall who it was but worth having. :D

Planning salmon teriyaki with some frozen pacific salmon from Asd@ for me and DH, spag bol from the freezer for the DS's, should keep everyone happy. Might manage a NSD! :rotfl:

Might be a good idea to list the acronyms at the start of the thread for those new to it all! I scratch my head sometimes at the D? ones - darling what, I'm thinking?!

DS cooked the fruity pancakes for breakfaast yesterday, we all like them and to get him cooking is great.:T

Have a great frugalistic day all (another new word, I like it!) :p

    Good morning all!

Well, its Friday Nimbo, and i havent been near the supermarket!! How about you?

I got my TCs today, and normally go shopping and spend the majority of it. After reading some of the earlier posts i have decided that i am going to pop out to get some milk and bread for the freezer so that i dont have to go into the supermarket to get any later on during the week.

I have to make 2 trips into uni this week, and 1 trip into my nearest town, so have to put petrol in the car. Also am going to save petrol by making sure i do the food shop on one of those days, so i am not wasting petrol by doing an extra journey (10miles) every week.

I have written a meal plan so that i know what we are having for dinner everyday this week.

I am thinking about setting up a 'debt free diary' so that i can keep an eye on my spending and attempts at being frugal. But not sure if thats the correct board to do that on..what do you all think??
  • Once again I seem to have lost track of my spends:o I guess the good thing is that its because I've been picking up the odd YS item rather than a whole shop. I've tried to work it backwards from the back account and figure I have around £60 left for Feb. Hopefully this should be more than enough. Except that Carolinerunner has said that Sainsbobs have 25% off six bottles of wine :o
We went to visit my dad in Norfolk last weekend so I spent £21 on sausages and sausage meat from their local butcher as I really like his ones, with these and all the YS ones I've had lately we really shouldn't need any more for a long time.
I'm finding our local YS items very good at the moment and it is leading me astray:o Still I'll be back at school next week and then I tend to buy them if they're good and pass them on to some friends there so I get the satisfaction of grabbing the bargains without actually spending the money - How sad am I?
I was off to conquer the world but I got distracted by something sparkly :D

I always only used to shop at Tes** but now I do as Tiger feet suggested. I write my list go online to My Supermarket type it in and print. Then I go to aldi first getting as much from my list as I can, then I get the rest in Tes**
I didnn't like @ldi when I first went but love it now. Sometimes the super 6 fruit is a bit sparse but I have definitely reduced my shopping bill doing it this way and no complaints from the family.
I am very lucky that I have an @ldi & L*dl opposite each other and a huge Tes*** just around the corner from them:j

Me too! Although I'm very lazy and don't often bother going to Lidl/ Aldi first. There's a few things I know are cheaper so if I'm buying them I'll try to make the effort: tortilla wraps are 20p cheaper in Lidl for example. I was v. disappointed to see the Quorn mince/ pieces had gone up to £1.98 - they were a bargain at 1.19. Now 3 for £5 in Tesco is better. Ho hum, it could be a full time job sussing out the supermarches. :o

I set up a debt free diary and pledged to write an entry at least once a week. I find it useful to look back on the week and think about anything that I have done to help the debt programme that week - whether it be limiting the grocery spends or selling on ebay. Its also quite empowering to look back and see where you have come from and what steps you ahve actually taken.
