How would I put curtains up for this?

Apologies in advance for my stupid and basic questions but I'm a first time buyer and completely lost with even the most basic things.
So below there is a long door. I don't want to get one long curtain to go the entire way across.
Would I just buy a long curtain for the door, and directly next to it have a shorter one?
I'm just not sure if that would look weird.

I would buy a pair of short curtains (taking care not to cover the radiator) and a door curtain in a matching colour. You could use the same pole for both.0

If it's an issue of privacy just buy blinds to fit the window and one for the door.I'm not that way reclined
Jewelry? Seriously? Sheldon you are the most shallow, self-centered person I have ever met. Do you really think that another transparently-manipu... OH, IT'S A TIARA! A tiara; I have a tiara! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me!0 -
My idea is to get a long blind for the door and a shorter one for the window.
AND then to do the same with curtains, i.e. long one for door then right next to it a shorter one for window.
Both sharing the same curtain rail.Amo L'Italia0 -
I see what you mean, it may well look odd. In your position I would buy curtains for the window, but also update the nets with voiles for privacy. A matching full length voile will work for the door if you want to block out detail, as the door has obscured glass anyway. Presumably this is not a room that will be used for sleeping, so light is not the issue.
The other thing I would give consideration to is the safety of the area - the door doesn't look the strongest.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Actually it's my bedroom, so it will definitely be used for sleeping (amongst other things hehe).
Light is a biggie. I would like a roller blind and maybe a net curtain too for privacy.
I'm on a very strict budget. Will get curtains from primark, but looking for good solutions.Amo L'Italia0 -

Argos have cheap blackout roller blinds, better quality than other places which sell cheap ones.BUT i dont think they will be long enough for the door.
curtains- a long door curtain may only be avaialble in a pair.
Weird that a bedroom has a door ?
I make curtains so its easy to find solutions.
personaly i would have a pair of full length curtains across the whole wall for a more sumptious look, but with blinds also, this will let you have them pulled back a little bit to allow for the radiator heat to get out, this of course wont be a prob in the warmer months. short curtains will just let the heat go up the curtains anyway..
If you want more feedback perhaps ask again on a sewing thread for ideas from the more creative ladies?0 -
is that just a balcony outside the door?Get some gorm.0

That door would have to go. I could understand if it was your front door but to lead from a bedroom straight out onto a walkway would not feel safe to me.0

I would guess that the door is onto a private balcony. It would be peculiar to have a glass bedroom door onto a communal walkway.
The OP may not be able to remove the door completely either way, as it appears to be a block of flats. The freeholder would, no doubt, have something to say about unauthorised changes to the exterior of the building.
Personally, I'd fit blinds to both the window & the door. Either black out roller blinds or dark wood venetian blinds. On one long pole over both, I'd put a pair of floor length dress curtains, for symmetry, but not draw them. That way the radiator would remain uncovered, & if you wanted to save some money you could also get away with having less wide curtains
edit...I see I agree with aggypanthus0
