suggestions for new laptop

so am i right in thinking from all the advise so far all thats decent is sony, asus and samsung?
and Lenovo
but this being said buying any laptop can mean you get a lemon as even the 'top' brands have failures.
for example Acer's are generally badly thought of, however my mum and dad have had a acer for the past 5-6 years and had absolutly no problems what so ever,
you also have to think of sales scale, as a lot more Acer's HP's etc tend to get sold than do Sony due to spec for price, or at least at the lower end of the price bracket.
now this is a little old and doesnt take into account the price of the systems massively but gives you an idea

on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)0 -

you guys are confusing me with your tech talk lol is this a good laptop?
Dell Inspiron M5030-4512 320GB 2.3GHz 15.6 Inch Laptop from argos?0 -
I am still looking and see now that there is a blue black or pink ASUS K53E SX833V at £399 from Amazon i3 with 4GB and 500GB I think this is the Asus I saw with a 3GB and 320Gb or at least the same in appearance with better key spacing and would value advice. The others I had been looking at are all sold.
Lenova I see and some say it is a good buy but again want to stay really to pay not more than £400.

This is an extract from a review of the AMD P360 cpu which the laptop has:When comes to 3D gaming, the processor generally comes with ATI Radeon HD 4250 graphics which allows you to play a few games in low details and low settings. Gaming also depends upon the amount of memory allocated to the graphics. As it is not a gaming processor hence the performance is not up to gaming standards.
I can't see a laptop in yr price bracket with a better AMD processor, however I am seeing a few with the Intel i series processors - maybe ask Gonzo how the AMD P340 comapres to the Intel i series?0 -
Have a look at the Intel i5 on the Dell Inspiron 15R - I have read that this is much better for what you want - it is refurbed - but all the Dell refurbs come with a 12month warranty and generally look as good as new

Specifically the Inspiron 15 - N5050 with the i5 2430M processor 4gb RAM & 500gb hdd at £285 + VAT0 -

ok sorry about the tech speak - but its quite difficult to explain without going into some detail
the power of the p360 is on a par with the old core 2 processors, which means the core i processors from the newer intel cpu's will be more powerful, as far as basic cpu power goes
however the biggie in this instances is the graphics chipset,
and the ATI 4250 falls inbetween the 2 chipsets found on the core i series of cpus, so is generally more powerful than the hd2000 graphics on the older gen core i processors, but not quite as powerful as the hd3000 graphics on the newer sandybridge core i cpus (you can tell the different by the amount of numbers behind the 'i' in that older gen has 3 numbers and the newer sandbridge has 4 numbers)
anyways this is a very rough guide for graphics and cpu power (each range will overlap with the others to a certain amount depending on the benchmark used)
so for graphics power and asscoiated cpu
GMA 4500 (intel core 2) < intel HD 2000 (core ixxx) < ATI 4250 (AMD X2/3/4) < intel HD 3000 (core ixxxx) < low end AMD Llano (E2) < regular AMD Llano (A series)
but processor power only
AMD X2/3/4 = intel core 2 < low end Llano (E2-3000) < Intel Core ixxx < regular AMD Llano (A series) < Intel core ixxxxDrop a brand challenge

So in summary unless we can find a laptop < £400 with the low end AMD Llano (E2), the OP is better off with the i5 series 2 as my previous post?0 -
lol ok i really do appreciate all of the help you guys are giving but i really dont know anything about comp performance or understand it im much more suited to outdoor non high tech stuff who would of thought im only 26 if you can just point at a place and a type of lappie within budget lol that would be great thanks0

simple but elegent summery,
yes as far as graphics go for 'gaming' you need a Llano set up or a core ixxxx processor (or dedicated graphics card)Drop a brand challenge
