Natwest: Unhelpful Banking
Comments

They didn't ask for them. Neither did Lloyds or HSBC for that matter.
The point isn't about overdrafts, its about the awful customer service from Natwest. I'm sure there are lots of decent members of staff, but overall my experience of the bank is that its staff are very poorly trained and not very motivated, it seems, to be that helpful.
I have never banked with them before, nor Lloyds for that matter, and my experience across a number of contacts with 4 or 5 staff members of staff wasn't great. It was a simple procedure, to open a current account....I am glad it wasn't something more complex.
You should find another bank which offer you the services you require.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -
Two weeks ago I visited my local NatWest branch to open a current account for my aged mother under LPA (she was not previously a customer though I have a Basic account) . It couldn't have gone better. The manager whisked through through the procedures, explained everything, copied LPA, didn't try to sell us anything and I went away very happy. Within a week Mum got her cheque book, debit card and PIN . Then.....
Mum got a letter from the Customer Service Centre saying that it needed a certified copy of the LPA to go with the forms it had received and to take the LPA to branch so that one could be made. Meanwhile the certified copy of the LPA had been returned to branch saying that there was no paperwork to go with it! Branch staff tell me that everything would have been sent off in one envelope so the Customer Service Centre had split the paperwork and not matched it up again. If they cannot handled a simple paper process like this it does not give one much confidence.
I have always found the branch staff friendly. There is a big range of knowledge on the reception desk though. Some staff members give very good information but other have a tendency to give advice without knowledge. This experience is not however restricted to NatWest.0 -

The point being that Natwest are going out of their way to say how friendly they are. From my experience they were the least friendly of the 3 banks I had contact with.
Its the little things that make a difference sometimes.....no offer of a coffee, not following up on promised call backs x2, leaving a customer in a back office for 20 mins, poor attitude in general.
On the other hand, HSBC were top drawer and Lloyds pretty good too.

That`s what im saying from your comments Natwest isn't the bank for you and is not able to provide the services you require by the sounds of it.
So it may be better off finding another bank that can provide you the service your after by the sounds of it you have found them.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -

Thats understandable.
Is there a general sense of demotivation amongst staff, or have I been unlucky in who I have had dealings with?0 -

I think you may have just been unlucky with whom you have had dealings with. I don't work in branch lucky for me so I wouldn't be able to comment whether there is a general sense of demotivation amongst staff.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -
