Kodak Hero 5.1 printer not working

I've recently bought the above printer and cannot get it to work properly. I keep getting communication software error 105-100009 and when I investigated that it basically just tells me to switch the printer off, switch my pc off, restart everything and try again. That never works and then we get error 105-100003 which tells me to reinstall the printer which I've done dozens of times. Sometimes that works sometimes it doesn't and when I'm trying to reinstall it tells me it cannot detect my printer then tells me it's installed!
If I take it back to PC World and they get it to work okay then it's obviously a problem with my pc but I'll still be back to square one. Is there any way I can find out what's causing the problem? Device Manager isn't detecting anything wrong.

Are you connecting via wireless or USB cable, or have you tried both?0

I would set the printer to use static IP address , if you use DHCP it will change every day/restart.4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex . Aint no sunshine ☀️ Octopus gas fixed dec 24 @ 5.74 tracker again+ Octopus Intelligent Flux leccy0

How do I do that and what's DHCP? I know it's to do with IP addresses but don't really understand it.Marg0 -
What version of Windows are you using? Please bear in mind that this printer is not supported on Windows XP/64.
It is supported on XP/32, Vista 32/64, and 7 32/64
If okay, then uninstall the Kodak software, remove USB and switch off the printer. Go to printers in the control panel, and make sure all 3rd party printers are removed, Kodak, and whatever printer you may have had before.
Download latest drivers from here:
http://support.en.kodak.co.uk/app/answers/detail/a_id/28075/selected/true
save it either to yr desktop or downloads folder. When complete then run it. Do not connect/turn on your printer until told to do so, or when the install has completed.
Now connect you printer and switch on. As you know it will go through the install process, check the printer within the control panel, make sure its listed and marked as default.
Try printing - fingers crossed0 -

You didn't cross them hard enough! Thanks for your help though - followed it to the letter but no go I'm afraid - different code coming up now - 105-100007 but with the same solution 'Turn off your printer and computer. Restart the printer. Follow the printer LCD prompts to clear any error conditions. Start the computer. Run the KODAK Printer Setup Utility again etc etc.'

Well, well - the only thing I can think of is a possible conflict with something on your PC - I will suggest a couple of things:
1. Please make sure via the programs uninstall feature in the control panel, that any previous printer/scanner software is uninstalled.
2, Next option: For this turn off the internet, as it an experiment without AV on; in programs/accessories click on run, then enter msconfig - in the popup box (i) click on services, and then place a tick ont he box that says "hide all ms services", then click on disable all; (ii) click on the startup tab, then clcik on disable all. Reboot. after rebooting you will receive a message which you can agree to ignore in future. Then try running the printer again, if it still fails, try unintalling and reinstalling from the files you downloaded.
After the experiment, you should rerun msconfig and enable all. Depending on success or fail, we may then decide the next step.0 -

Well that's been a fun couple of hours - did all you suggested and there did seem to be a longer installation process this time which was encouraging. The printer wasn't there though after reinstalling and when I enabled everything and restarted, the pc completely froze on start up which it's never done! Finally switched it off at the mains and after switching back on the printer was there. But not printing. Not getting the same error codes now though but I think that's because there was a message saying 'bidirectional support not enabled'. I'm just getting the same error messages I used to get with my last printer.
Anything else I can try?Marg0 -

See this from the Kodak website:Error: "Bidirectional support is disabled"

How do I turn on bidirectional support on my all-in-one printer?
To turn on bidirectional support:- For computers with WINDOWS 7 Operating System:
-
- Select Start > Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
- Right-click your printer name, then click Printer properties.
- Click the Ports tab.
- Select the Enable bidirectional support check box.
- Click OK.
