Halifax ultimate reward

Recently upgraded from reward to ultimate reward after giving in to the constant pestering.

To cut a long story short, i wasnt happy after reading T&C's its hardly worth the money and decided to cancell within the 14 day trial period.

I was then told i couldnt have the account reverted back to the reward account (which it was in the first place) as they no longer allow more than one per customer.

Iv always had a joint reward and a personal reward.

So basically i was going to lose £60 a year for trialing the upgraded account.

After much hassle and moaning/threatening to close accounts they decided it WAS possible.

Whats Halifax's problem the customer service is shocking since Lloys got involved.

Did you do it in branch?

If you did they probably didn't want you to cancel as it would affect their sales figures.

Although its not a exscuse you need to take into account that everything Halifax of the 'old' used to do has changed. The staff are still learning whats what.
Can I find out my credit score?
You do not have a single credit score or rating. Different organisations take different information into account when working out your credit score and may have different scores for different products. (Kindly from Experian)

I've never rated the customer service from the Halifax branches that highly and I closed my current account with them partly due to their cashiers forever trying to sell me this, that and the other.

I see the main part of the problem is that they have taken over and been taken over so many times down the years, that they are too big and can't get the basics right any longer.

You could, of course, have just said "please stop marketing to me this way" and at the flick of a switch a message would have come up on the cashier's screen saying "Leave this poor lamb alone".

    Or similar.

I've worked in the past as a cashier with the Halifax and we had no such function (although this was many years ago now and they've had a lot of system changes since then).

We could stop marketing by mail and phone, but nothing stopped what was called "lead generation" at the counter.

You weren't very well trained then, or your "many years" predates 2002.

It was on the same system 'Customer' or 'CSP' system that blocked mail and phone marketing.

My "many years" were before 2002 (I Left in 2000), but as a customer I was hassled about the Ultimate Reward upgrade from the moment the product was released until I closed my account.

Part of the reason why I left the Halifax was the unfair pressure put on branch staff to sell, sell, sell !!

I remember an area manager telling us all that we were there to sell and if we didn't like it, we could leave....so I left :):):)

I opened a HSBC account last year. About a week after I filled in the application form, some foreign sounding customer service rep phoned me up asking if I'd prefer the Advance account for the extra "exceedingly useful" extras. This was before I had received the signature form, so my account wasn't even properly open!
