Twitter Competitions Ending Today (Regularly Updated)

I can see both sides of this debate. what I tend to do is keep on checking todays end date and I assume that new twitter comps will (and do) appear on there throughout the day.
if it gets to be a problem in the main thread, could this thread live in the regular comps threads? maybe as a sticky? although as there arent any stickys in there atm I assume the mods dont want stickys in there!
I like entering the twitter ones, they are like instant wins, although I havnt won a twittwr comp yet so fingers crossed!
But then you get people posting them in the regular thread and not on the main board, so more people will miss them than have the chance to enter them.0 -

becky004 if you click subscribe thread above you would get an email every time someones posts a twitter comp in here and therefore shouldn't miss any :j
Good luck everyone :beer:I love this board, have "virtually" met so many lovely people, people I am honoured to count as friends.

Ah yes, I can see that now. I have to agree that posting every comp individually in the main board is the only way to really make it work.
I have been on this board on and off for the past 5 years and have seen many arguments over this sort of thing myself, i hope this doesnt turn into a row.
xxback to comping after a 2 year break!! Mission… to win a gift for all my family for Christmas!0 -
"If you look at this thread in a couple of days time, it will be full of expired competitions!"
but couldn't the peeps who post the twitter 'quick ending/ending today' comps expire thier 'old' comp when they post a new comp ?
they only have to go back to the day before & delete the old one, then it wouldn't be full of 'old' comps
i agree majority of 'normal' comps should be posted on main separate but the quick ending twitter ones are an exception to the rule surely,
there's loads of comps 'bumped' every day & no-one complains much about them,
i think, if peeps gave this thread the chance, subscribed to it & used it properly then it would be ideal for them, as bonnie said
These competitions can get a bit lost amongst all the others on the board and this thread will provide a central place to easily post and find "flash" Twitter competitions.
just my HO
Trouble is, you are assuming that people are going to come back and delete their post - its already obvious that some posters struggle putting an end date on a competition, let alone ask them to remove a post.
I have no idea how to subscribe to a thread, and to be honest, i dont see the need, because things on the board recently have been working very smoothly (in my opinion).
I suggested at the last big debate that facebook and twitter comps have there own sub board/thread or something, but it was not wanted.
As Nicky63 said, if a comp has an end date it goes on the main board - i dont see why 'flash' twitter comps (and the one posted on here wasnt a flash comp, just one found on the last day) should be any different, and to be honest, ive not noticed loads of flash twitter comps anyway, which either backs up my earlier point that i would be searching a thread for comps i dont want to enter, but dont know if i do until i waste time looking rather than seeing the title and moving on, or there just arnt that many, meaning this thread isnt really needed.0 -
I honestly don't think people will come back and delete old comps.
Also where do you draw the line at twitter competitions ending today? Technically I suppose that should be midnight, but say I see a competition on twitter now that ends tomorrow morning at 9am, that means it has 13 hours left to run. However, if I see a competition tomorrow morning at 9, that finishes tomorrow at midnight, it will have 15 hours left to run. THe former won't technically be posted on this thread as it doesn't end today but the latter will, even though it's not as much of a "flash" competition. I'm not being picky but I just see this opens up problems.
Every night I just search for competitions in date order, posted in the last day and that catches most of these types of quick twitter comps0 -
so what say if ALL of us who've 'bumped' this thread with non twitter comps only discussion, delete all our posts & leave the thread for the peeps who want to post the comps on it,
as it should have been,
surely then bonnie & the contributors will find out if it'll work for themplease be a responsible pet owner & spay/neuter your pets, too many strays & not enough homes for them sadly.0 -
as per the current guidelines for this board can you please post each comp either on the main board with an end date and the same title format as every other thread E: ??/??
eg E: 31/01? Win 1 Of 3 Personalised Hoodies (Twitter)
or if it runs regularly and is ongoing on the regulars board
eg E: WEEKLY (Fri) Win music from Polydor (Twitter)I am a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Wales, Small Biz MoneySaving, In My Home (includes DIY) MoneySaving, and Old style MoneySaving boards.
