Hi all
I went a bit mad on free listing weekend and now have over 30 parcels to post tomorrow. Have you any tips on trying to avoid the inevitable tutts and sighs from the rest of the queue at the post office?
I haven't got a printer so can't print off my own postage from paypal

You are paying their wage, so be polite, smile and just stand there and put the things across one at a time. It would probably help if you have a 'certificate of posting' pad that you can have completed before you go.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Thanks, do PO's supply certificate of posting pads? I've only ever had printed receipt type ones in the past0

Please don't go in between 12 and 2 that's when everyone else is on their lunchbreak and so (if my local PO is anything to go by) are the PO staff... go in first thing along with everyone else who took advantage of the free listing weekend. Smile sweetly and ignore the sighs and tuts.
FWIW, I went into my local PO at half 2, there was no queue and I posted all 20 parcels, the staff were very efficient and all I had to do was write the postcode on each proof of postage.

Fill in this before you get to the post office

It means you won't need seperate receipts and staff will stamp to confirm the posting of all the items.
Mondays are really busy in the mornings - between 2 and 3.30 is a better Monday time.
Make sure you put a pencil note on each parcel as to the method you are posting - 1st/2nd/recorded etc

I know exactly what you mean. I don't like to hold the queue up and if someone in front of me does, then I'm patient. Just ignore the inpatient ones, they can always choose to leave or moan to the cashier about why there is only one or two serving
Can you not ask someone else to go with you and take half, that way you'll be in half the time if you's get served together.
There was one time I had two small parcels to post. There was about 5 of us in the queue and two cashiers serving. Someone getting served before me had 3 big sacks full of parcels and when I got to the front of the queue the other cashier refused to serve me with TWO parcels. She said only one can take parcels while the other serves other customers. So I was waiting around 45 minutes before I got served The thing that annoyed me the most was that it took less time to put my two parcels through than the rest of the customers paying bills and asking questions etc at the other till. The lady with all the parcels did offer to take a break and let me get served but the cashier said 'No, its okay'. I now avoid that post office and go to another a further 4 miles away!A home without a dog is like a flower without petals.0 -

I always find the smaller post offices better than the crown offices, about an hour before closing time seems the quietest (surprising but true)0

Think of every tut and sigh from the poor so and sos stuck behind you as being worth a pound each. To you. Then try not to smile. I'd definitely avoid the lunch-break hours, just out of fairness to the rest of us.Reason for edit? Can spell, can't type!0

I avoid the PO first thing on Monday mornings as it's benefits day and there's usually a queue first thing (or is that just a reflection on where I live :rotfl:). It's usually gone down pretty quickly, but worth bearing in mind.0
