Dealer desperate to sell me car before end of the month!!!

Thank you all guys for the ideas and sorry for not commenting earlier as I am only back from work. I think the post of Fivetide sums up the whole situation. It is actually as if he was with me at the dealership.
I had a sensible conversation with the sales manager today (not the sales rep. I dealt with originally). He was desperate to complete the sale by tomorrow and I made it clear that I will only do that if he sweetens the deal . I also explained that I am not trying to rip him off and that I appreciate that they need to make a living. Eventually he agreed to give me nearly 70% discount on a two years extended warranty which I dont think is bad. In return I will write him a cheque tomorrow to allow time for the funds to be in my account and I agreed that I will collect the car after the clearance of the cheque.0 -
Another explanation may well be that the car in question is over age, and the dealer has already reduced the price down to what it owes him and therefore has no margin left in the car.
Not invoicing and receiving payment for the car could cost the dealer significant amounts of money in write down costs dependent on the manufacturer.
May not be the case, but sound plausible to me. No dealer will survive selling below cost!0 -
the car is only 6 months old.0

It's only 3 days. Most companies have to deal with 30-60 days!0

So you've ended up paying more money to get a deal? One based on an extended warranty which is likely to have so many exclusions as to be worth next to nothing?
Not what I would call a result!0 -
Why have you bought warranty on a car with 2.5 years or more of manufactures warranty remaining?0

Glad to see a proper upselling salesman got involved.0

Thank you all again. The reason I went for the warranty is that if i decide to sell the car in 3 or 4 years time it will still have some manufacturer cover which will be attractive to buyers. ALso the cover is original Audi cover which is a very good one.0

That salesman is superb. Sorry OP, they've done you on this. Their warranty won't be worth the paper its written on either. This is NOT the same as manufacturer cover which will replace stuff like the engine blowing up (assuming its not your fault), gearbox falling out. If there's only one thing that dealers do better than selling pointless addons, its making sure those pointless addons don't cost them any money, and make it seem the buyer got the deal of their life.
Anyway, enjoy the car.0 -

And you can say this without having seen the T's and C's of the extended warranty? Wow, you're amazing!"You should know not to believe everything in media & polls by now !"
