I am amazed that people do not inspect their goods before they pay for them.

What, you're allowed to open a sealed box before you pay for it?

The manager will give you a exchange or refund on this. Its pretty basic training that you have to assume the customer is telling the truth in situations like this unless there's an obvious deception. Goodwill is definately an option here to ask for when when you get your exchange/refund on Monday.

Not sure what your age and religion has to do with anything though. Its almost like your saying you naturally have a higher moral standard than other people and should be believed more due to your choice of Sunday club and age.

Yep totally agree, as Forwandert says it's basic training even for most non management staff :o

The Highest priority is to make sure that the customers opinion of the store and brand is weighed above the loss of a few hundred pounds;) having said that you do occasionally get the odd ****** but you just have to tell yourself that most customers aren't like that and watch out for the *** next time:D

I know that most stores (don't know specifically with Asda:() should be able to check on the system and see whether an item has been brought back for a refund and then subsequently put back into saleable stock... as that to me seems like the most likely cause is the box not being checked before accepting it for a refund (amateur mistake:eek:) second most likely culprit is staff with sticky fingers:mad: which is harder to prove

I hope you get it sorted tomorrow:beer:

Sorry but i automatically assume anyone who mentions RELIGION or TRUST or HONEST...

To be scammers. My inboxes are full of Honest, Trustworthy and Religious people offering to give me huge sums of money of telling me i have wont something, But i need to make a small or not so small payment to them first.

Terrible situation to be in though, And i wonder how many people buy large or expensive items and dont check before leaving the store? 99.9% of people?

    .

From my experience that's pretty much spot on:o I've only ever been asked about a few times over the past couple of months to open a product in front of the customer for them to check it's

    A) In there

    and

    B) Not damaged

and on all of those occasions it was because the box was showing signs of wear and tear from movement on the shelves in the warehouse:)

The problem is this is clearly a customer return that has been resold, the store's issue is the return was not adaquately checked when returned and therefore accepted despite the weight being questionable.

The store should now be able to track the return to see where its comes from and subject to valid till receipt information follow that up.

The problem is due to the store's lack of care the ability to track the item itself in its stock system won't help, as no time when it was in stock after it was returned was it actually 'in the box'.

Now it all comes down to proving who where what, and quite frankly Asda already got that wrong.
  • So over 50s don't scam people and neither do people who go to church, so a 50 yr old church going person couldn't possible scam anyone could they?

I'm not saying for one minute that the OP has scammed Asda but look at it from their point of view - someone claims that a tin of sweetcorn was in the box instead of a DS....even I would find that pretty a tall story to believe even if it was true.

I think the main problem is if this story is true or not.

Not only is it basic training - it's the law.

I don't believe this thread. Surely got to be a wind-up. How would a tin of sweetcorn and a bog roll even fit in a box designed for the (completely differently shaped) Nintendo DS?

  • You should be grateful they allowed you to go into the store to be quite honest, you disgraceful young disbeliever.
