Have posted on the IVA/DRO forum but no response!
Could anyone please described their experiences doing a DRO in particular the paperwork side to it.
Thanks:)

im thinking off doin one of these
i will be debt free, i will
  • Phoned the CCCS debt relief order phone line and after 35 mins had to hang up. No-one answered just a voice saying how busy they are.
It would be good if the folk that have gone through the process could say how the process was etc.............
  • For me it was a very simple process, I called the companies I owed money too, got up to date balances (and account numbers where I'd lost them). Took me a few hours ringing everyone up and that was pretty much it. I just passed on the details to the NationalDebtLine and the firm they handed my case over too and that was that- Paid the £90 - Done.

Honestly Very Very Simple Process - Which was a lifeline to me, the DRO gave me my life back.

Thanks PurpleGoldFish, you mentioned NationalDebtline passed this over, so they are not the direct intermediaries?
Pleased you feel your life is a lot better for doing it.
  • You've got me thinking now...Was is NDL? I'll have to dig out my paperwork. I'm sure it was though. Anyway, it was passed on and the company it went to was VERY good and dealt with my DRO within a few days.

I'm so glad I'm not having to service that debt, with the rising cost of living and nothing in the way of pay increases....

Hope you get from your DRO what I got from mine...

CCCS are pretty busy to call on mondays and tuesday and fridays i have found.
I have helped people through the CCCS process, so they do the appointment where the DRO is advised and send out the pack requesting information is posted in. We send in the information asked for (proof of income, experian credit report, creditor details, and 2 sheets CCCS provide that need signing or filling in) and then they process the paperwork and call to go through the forms.
occasionally if the call is missed they send the form out anyway, and cover that phone call when called back.
with the form in hand you would be asked to pay the fee, check the balances over the phone with creditors, then call back to submit (or you can email and request call back, but this can sometimes be delayed)

The last i heard it was taking them approx 2 weeks between receive all ppw and calling/sending forms out.

Thanks for that, just collating things to send, the envelope has a Birmingham address on it for CCCS. When you ring the Debt Relief team with CCCS are they just advising on that number? Or are they the actual intermediaries?
There is a debt with VERY catalogue but they haven't sent a statement, can one be printed from their online website?
    Some are paperless you see.

I have sent print outs of statements to CCCS-posted last Friday so getting through the two weeks..! CCCS said print outs were fine, that they dont actually get sent to the IS it's just to confirm the levels of debt..
    Good luck! Keep us posted!
  • Well I've had a 30 minute conversation with an advisor from CCCS this evening and he's agreed that my only real option is a DRO. It comes of little surprise. The advisor was very nice, didn't make you feel ashamed and had obviously spoken to many people in a similar position. He gave me the option of having information e-mailed to me or by post. I chose e-mail but as it hasn't included the return envelopes or experian credit check form (they do this for free) I'll be calling tomorrow and asking for it by post instead.

I'm so nervous but also so excited. He told me too pretty much stop trying to pay the people I owe money too and to just pay a pound towards them this month to hopefully show good will and keep them at bay while its processed.

It's taken a long time and a lot of reading for me to go ahead, but already I feel 100x better and I know that in 12 months I can pretty much start again (with it on my credit file, but totally afresh).

I would recommend anybody in such a dire situation to be accepted for a DRO to just go a head and do it. I doubt they will be around for an unlimited amount of time and it really is a fantastic solution for people with no 'light at the end of the tunnel'.

Thank you so much to all of those that of answered my questions. I can only imagine how frustrating it is to read all my silly questions that I should just call CCCS or someone similar about, but I'm so very grateful for your help.

Thanks again, and I'll continue to keep you updated on the process!
