(I need to give them my updated SOA figures tonight)
I then logged onto my digital banking and cancelled all the direct debits for my credit cards and car loan, I was shaking pressing "CANCEL".
(too late to turn back now!) :j
And at lunch I am going to open a new basic account - with NO overdraft.
I'm still shaking now, I'm daft :rotfl:
It's a start isn't it! :T

Been trying to post something on this thread since I read it on Monday - there's been loads of good advice and I'm really pleased that you're starting to take the first steps.
I picked up on one point in particular (apologies if this has been dealt with) and that's defaults. I wasted a fair bit of time worrying about defaults when we set up our DMP - then I had a lightbulb moment:
- If I pay them less than what they want then they'll eventually register a default.
- If I can no longer pay them (and therefore don't pay them anything at all) then they'll register a default.
"Hang on.....the default is going to happen anyway! There's nothing I can do to prevent the default - all I can do is work out what I CAN pay and make sure I pay that every month!"
Worry about the things that you need to worry about.....but don't stress the things you can't change!
Hang in there - you'll find your way out of your own personal storm and find calmer waters....we've all been there, we know what it feels like and we all found a course to steer. You will as well.
Stay strong0 -

Good advice in fact the sooner they do it the better as that means they'll drop off quicker. Some of mine took over a year which is worse.:(DMP mutual support member 3970 -

I've had that argument with one particular creditor who was being unhelpful. "Just default me now"....ended up with a decent enough deal on the interest and, with a bit of luck, will prevent a default.0 -
:j Yay! :T :j
Many many thanks to you all for your ever so kind words and support (so far!), and for kicking me up the butt relentlessly so I had to take action and get things started!
That means: Mort, rdchick, FeeFeeDee (hi ya FFD!), Loubylou2, katy721 (hey! how you doin'? LOL!), rising from the ashes and last but not least, Magi74!
Plus everyone else who has kindly offered support and advice on this seemingly never ending quest of mine, ha ha :rotfl:
I really really really really really do appreciate each and every post made on here and am sorry I didn't listen earlier and have dug my heels in!
I was scared phoning CCCS up. I was scared cancelling the direct debits. And I was scared going in to open a new basic account, he said my face dropped when he mentioned he would have to do a credit check first , but after a few clicks, said it was all fine and I was on the electoral roll and it helped I had been in the flat for over 6 years! :T
I do feel a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders, and for today anyway, am relaxing, kicking back and enjoying Day 1 of the rest of my journey as a Debt Free Wannabe! :j
I won't ruin things by posting my new fears and worries, they can wait until tomorrow, ha ha!THANK YOU ALL ONCE AGAIN, I LOVE YOU ALL!.
Group hug?
