It doesn't matter if you have had to spend on it recently, providing you cut up the card and agree with CCCS that you won't use it any more you can still go on a DMP. It may take a couple of months for your creditors to agree to freeze the interest (or it may take even longer) but you don't have many options. They will eventually agree and you can finally start tackling these debts.

Please contact CCCS, they are non-judgemental and have heard it all a million times before. Oh, and I know it's easy to say but please try not to panic. If it starts getting too much take a break, have a cup of tea, go for a 30 minute walk and then come back to things when you are feeling calmer.

I.m sure they will make allowances because it was rent, mibbee different if it showed u went on a shopping spree or booked a cruise with it.

Well I had to buy a bit of food too, as again, no money until the 15th :(

  • Thanks, but I am now terrified more than ever as I just read on another thread (re: the Yorkshire Bank) that there offer from CCCS to them was refused due to continued spending on the account.

That's me right up the creek big time as I have today HAD to pay this week and next weeks rent on the MBNA card.

I have no other source of money available.

    I'm screwed :(

I can tell CCCS tomorrow that I have just cut up all the cards tonight and they can tell MBNA that, but from their point of view (MBNA), I'm like a car speeding along ignoring the stop lights by STILL using it. Oh hell.... how could I be so daft?

I had no choice. No one else could lend me the 2 weeks rent and I'd get evicted if I was late again.

    I can't cope.

I am sorry but you are making me laugh now - just CALM DOWN. Listen, nobody can take what you have not got. This is a really tough time for you but CCCS will help you and once you get the ball rolling then things will start coming together.

I would not tell CCCS about the holiday. Instead is waiting for them to invent the dog, you invent it. Or start smoking. Good ways to squirrel a little cash. Or if you are going to struggle then cancel it. Or see if you can change the dates until next year or sometime later.

Now stop flapping and making me laugh - it makes me feel uncaring, which I am not:)

That's my thread, and don't worry, it's just one creditor who is being a pain in the bum.

Firstly - cancel ALL the DD, yes, even the ones for credit cards and any loans. CANCEL THEM.
Open up that new bank account and get your priority debts, rent/mortgage, council tax paid out of it. The credit cards and loans are NOT a priority. I know it feels like it (it did for us as well) but they're not. You can, if you wish, send them each a token payment of £1 using a postal order.

Thank you BlushingRose reading that in your thread scared the life out of me, I never twigged how bad it must look to the credit card company when you turn round and plead poverty.

Hey, I went onto my online banking a while ago and hovered over the CANCEL DIRECT DEBIT links - but just couldn't do it.

I just know how it feels.

But then so do most people on here.

I only accepted the dare about 2 months ago and it was one of the scariest things I have done. I might be skint now but am so much more relaxed as I have a plan in place and know where I stand with things. I may not be rolling in money but I have enough to live off, which is all you need if you are being realistic about things.

Shut your eyes, hold your nose and take the plunge!

Come on in, I would say the water is lovely but its slightly chilly and a little murky but there are NO SHARKS!

Accept the dare and don't make me call you a 'C' word! (Not THAT one!)

That although is logical, scares me.

Okay, will go and try and make something to eat. Thank you everyone.

  • Yes, once you start making the token payments you must not be tempted to try to use your cards. They will cancel them anyway, but just in case of the time lag, don't be tempted.

Well, at least I'm being of some use in this thoroughly depressing waste of an existence of mine by making others laugh (albeit in a bizarre way!).

Have a chuckle, it's okay :rotfl:

I tell you what, if ever I was re-incarnated, I'd come back as myself :(

katy721 - I must refrain from drinking a cup of tea when reading your posts, OMG! At least you good people can lift me up, thanks.

I really need to get some food now...
