Vodafone and upgrade problem

I've been a customer with Vodafone for about 4 years in total and due an upgrade as my 24 month contract is almost up. I currently have the Iphone 3GS.

I currently get -

600 mins for calls
1gb of data use
unlimited texts
it also includes the wifi thingie and passport thing.

and pay £36.

I want my tariff to stay the same and get the new Iphone 4S (I'd have to pay £129 for the phone - which I'm happy to do). Apparently I can't though. Basically there offering half the package to me for the same price. 300 mins of calls, 500mb of data and unlimited texts for the same price of £36 a month.

I have queried this via customer service, who were as helpful as my backside, and popped into a store today, who pretty much told me the same thing, though they said I can have the extra 500mb of data for an extra £41.

I am considering cancelling the contract but wonder if it's going to be pretty much the same for all companies. I do work for the Police and am aware some utility companies offer discounts but I haven't looked into that any further yet.

Threaten to cancel and then see what they offer you and from what you have stated you are not being unreasonable and maybe this would be a good time to shop around and see what else you can get from another network.

If you do that though check the coverage online AND grab a PAYG sim to check out coverage so you have peace of mind before committing for another 2 years.

Checked the tariff and can see exactly the one you are looking at so stick to your guns and see what you can get out of them.

Wondering if this deal is for new customers only?

  • Hi,
As you work for the police are you entitled to the employee advantage scheme? I am and I know a lot of other companies/civil servants etc are as well, inc my wife as a nurse.

Thanks - I went into store and they said it was only certain forces - I work for Durham and they werent included.

I'm going to go with orange who can give me the same deal with 1gb of internet and 600 mins with a 20% discount, meaning £32 a month.

What's wrong with your current Iphone?

I only ask because in a year's time, the same will be wrong with the new one and you will be spending over £840 during your 2 year contract which is £600 more than I am spending on my Android.

Guess it's choices and certainly mine isn't to waste money on a gadget that will be superseded very soon with the Iphone5 this year and Iphone 6 next.

Steve certainly did a Job on Apple fans.

I'm with Vodaphone and am due an upgrade. I've been negotiating with them over a new android (HTC Sensation) and have got precisely nowhere. They wouldn't budge a penny on the website prices. I threatened to leave, they put me through to the disconnections department and they offered me my PAC code. No negotiation at all.

if they wont budge, take your pac on to pay as you go (other network). then order the plan you want via topcash and it will work out a lot cheaper. pac your number back online
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.
