For the venue is it just £900 left to pay or do you have more to pay but it would be £900 that you would lose? I was just wondering how much you would lose on the venue and if you could hire a very cheap hall whether you would still be able to (if it was possible) to still afford the caterers? Does it say in your contract when you would have to pay this £900? (I was just thinking as you really dont have the money whether they would settle for it in installments or something? (if they know they are definitely going to get it back at some point shortly after they may be willing to agree)
I really hope you manage to sort things out. If I can think of any more ideas I will be back. Plus sending you a hug as you must be feeling so stressed at the moment and it probably feels like every direction you turn to you are hitting a brick wall.
You say you have to buy another dress, could you sell your current one and then search and search for a bargain dress on ebay- they can definitely be found.0 -
I would lose £600 on the venue and the £100 on the caters and the catering costs are about £1300.
I will need to sell my dress but simualar ones don't go for much at all and due to the surgery getting another is going to be pretty tricky.
Thanks for the kind words, everything really is just falling aprart as I speak. The venure arn't flexable at all and tbh we can't afford to even pay in installments0 -
If you don't mind me asking, what kind of surgery is it? Could you not just get the current one adjusted to how you want it?What's yours is mine and what's mine is mine..0

Could you not get married just you too? If you are really upset about it and not well it might perk you up a little? I know you say your mum will be annoyed you do not have a reception, but as it stands your not havkng a reception OR a marriage. Try and think about yourself and husband to be, not making your mum happy. You mention she sadly may not be here for much longer and so this would be a solution.Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0 -
I agree with 74jax. Could you not have the wedding for your nearest and dearest.
Then arrange a "do" at some later date... more like a party?
Some labour clubs etc do free / cheap room hire, and you could order a bit of food in, and it wouldn't cost that much. you can do it when you have recovered from surgery, and it will give you something to look forward toMarried 23rd June 2012Trying to pay off some capital on our mortgage & save some pennies for our futureSealed pot challenges started 08/10/13!Sealed Pot #1434Virtual Sealed Pot #1100 -
Thanks guys. We've had a lots of talks about it and what with the surgery and costs we just can't do it. If my surgery was sooner it wouldn't be so bad. We've paid out so much and its going to take me so long to recover. We bought the wedding forward for my mum but now I can't make it happen.0
