Urgently need to find another place for our reception

Were in a very tricky position and can no longer afford our wedding reception hire costs and cateres, we've paid a deposit which I'm praying we can get back.
We're getting married in June and we need to find a pub function room for hire that does food for as cheap as possible. We're getting married near baker street. Will also need to take 100 people. So grateful for any help.

I can't imagine you'd get your deposit back at all.Science adjusts its views based on what's observed.
Faith is the denial of observation, so that belief can be preserved.

I agree with Mildred that you will probs not be able to get your deposit back. What does your contract say? You could try negotiating if they re-book your date to another bride you get your deposit back maybe?
Another option would be to work out how much you can spend per head and ask your venue what they can supply for that amount. Yes you might not get the posh meal you originally hoped for but you will have your venue and the guests you want.
You say you 'need' 100 guests, is that the minimum number for your venue or how many you want?Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0 -
You really need to look at your contract as it's less than 6 months away you'll have to pay extra for cancelling. (That's if it's in the contract stating that, It is in mine anyway)What's yours is mine and what's mine is mine..0

I'm currently away from home so can't check the contract. It was going to be a buffet meal anyway so we can't cut out costs anymore. 100 would be the number of guests as my oh is from a big family. As it currently stands we're not sure if we can afford to get married and between now and getting married I
Need further surgery so need to get things tied up ASAP.0 -
If that's the case, why not contact the venue, explain things to them and postpone the wedding for a year. they may move your deposit to the new date you choose. That way you can get the surgery out the way. What's yours is mine and what's mine is mine..0

My mum is not well so we bought the wedding forward but everything is against us.0 -
hmmm that sucks. Maybe post some figures for what you invisage the wedding will cost and we can help you knock some of the prices down or find better deals for you? That way you could keep the venue. What's yours is mine and what's mine is mine..0

I'd definitely speak to the venue first - seems a shame to lose the deposit. They may be able to help with things (it's definitely in their interest for the wedding to go ahead with them, as they may keep the deposit but they won't make more money and it's unlikely anyone else will book that date so late).0

Just checked the T&C's and the deposit is non refundable and there's still £900 to pay plus the catering costs which we don't have the money for. I need to get a new dress due to the surgery.
Thinking about cancelling the wedding but I know if we do I don't know if my mum will be around for the next date0 -
Could you speak to the venue and ask if you could postpone for say a year, but in the meantime get married low cost- registry office with a small number of guests and a pub lunch after, so your mum will get to see you get married, then next year once youve recovered from your op and had time to save you could then celebrate (say on your 1st anniversary) with the 100 guests that you were originally going to invite.0
