How to override security floodlight to become dusk till dawn only?

Hey everyone.!
Any ideas on the above bought an outside flood light from b&q to replace the broken one. We have fitted an energy saving equivalent bulb 20w so will now be able to leave this light on all night. Problem is it has a motion sensor and when activated the max the light will stay on for is 12 minutes.
We can override this by flicking the power switch on and off straight away but this is in a cupboard and inconvenient to get to so I was wondering if there's a way of over riding the timer permanently so after the first activation the light just stays on till dawn?!
Any help would be appreciated.
Richard.

Other than flicking the switch quickly as you describe, there is no way to have the light come on permanently after first activation.
You would need to modify the internal circuitry to disable the dwell time to do this. It would then switch off when it was daylight again. If my post hasn't helped you, then don't click the 'Thanks' button!0 -
you just need a normal outside light then that you can leave on all night0

they say they want to leave it on all night0

Either or really... I guess the light sensor will only let the light come on when it gets dark so it's the actually pir that detects movement so after the first activation we want it to stay on all night or of this is too difficult can we just get it to switch on all night at dual and then off at dawn?
What would we need to reprogram inside to do this?If you found my post helpful, please remember to press the THANKS button! --->0 -

Thank you. Any idea on how to Modify this?If you found my post helpful, please remember to press the THANKS button! --->0 -
Dusk/Dawn sensors are readily available. You can either re-wire your exisiting light to a new sensor or buy a light that has a dusk/dawn sensor built-in.If my post hasn't helped you, then don't click the 'Thanks' button!0

To make it stay on a long time, say 8 hours you would have to find the timing capacitor, unsolder it and calculate a suitable considerably larger one and solder it in. Assuming it would fit inside somehow. It would be a lot bigger. Bad plan.
Be better to replace the PIR one with a simple 'dusk to dawn' floodlight.

presume you fitted the B&Q one so can't get refund?European for 3 weeks in August, the rest of the year only British and proud.0 -

There is a light sensor already built in as it will stay on all might of swords on and off at mains however want to make this permanent by disabling the timer. If you found my post helpful, please remember to press the THANKS button! --->0 -
I am aware that it has a dusk/dawn sensor built-in. However, it would be much simpler and safer to buy a light that just has a dusk/dawn sensor with no motion detection.
How competant are you with electronics/electrics?If my post hasn't helped you, then don't click the 'Thanks' button!0
