I tried a seniors dating site recently and soon discovered that having joined for free I would have to pay a subscription to read any messages etc.. Eventually I convinced myself the initial messages (and even a wink  ) I received were more than likely generated by the site itself using false profiles to encourage me to subscribe. Anybody else think (or know) if this goes on just to get people subscribing?

After my initial post yesterday I decided to register with 1 site to test your theory. I supplied only the most basic information: male, heterosexual, age, height, hair colour.

No description, photo or interests were listed. This morning, just 24hrs later, I have apparently received 6 emails none of which can be read without paying. Interestingly, these "ladies" ages range from 25 to 49 (2 in their 20's, 2 in their 30's, 2 in their 40's).

Now, if I weren't so cynical I guess I'd be quite flattered that someone half my age was interested and would be reaching for my bank card. Fortunately, I've got at least 2 brain cells and there is the occasional spark when they collide so the money is staying put.

I think it is fair to say you are most likely right and one should only pay these sites if you are planning to make full use of the services and be proactive. Otherwise stick with sites like Plenty of Fish.

Seems like a good idea, have you emailed him to suggest it?
  • Trouble with women my age is that they all want to be with men younger, possibly to boost their ego's too.

Tell me oh wise sage, why shouldnt anyone of any age want to be with someone younger than themselves?. Youth has its attractions.

It has its drawbacks too, just ask Demi Moore.

I suspect it would fall outside his core interests these days, however there have been a few MSE weddings! People who 'met' here, decided to meet IRL etc.
