I filled up with petrol on thursday and i am not sure if this is a coincidence but less than a mile later I started to have problems with my car. The heater nows doesnt heat up, there is a knocking noise from somewhere down by my feet and the engine is running hot. When I slow down I have trouble keeping it running but when I am doing 60 down the motorway I have no problems. Hope somebody as some idea. Also am using lot of warer

It's not a diesel car is it?0

Sounds like a radiator leak.
When you are moving quickly down the motorway the air is cooling the radiator. Which is why you notice it less.
Wait until engine is cold then fill up radiator.
If it is just a small leak you can get a bottle of Radweld or similar to put in the radiator, but that is just a temporary measure.
You need to get it fixed otherwise your engine will seize up and you will have major repair bill.0 -

what do you think the knocking wuld be0 -
just for refernce the oilmn light is not there to say its low on oil its to say there is no oil presure and normally if that light does come on the engine is close to death.0

Yes and there is no oil light on to say it is low
Oh. Dear.
Did you actually check the oil or assume that because the low PRESSURE oil light isn't on that its OK?
Your problem has nothing to do with the petrol you put in and everything to do with no water either from a leak, a blown headgasket or the fact there's hardly any oil in the engine.0 -
Been to the garage and head gasket has gone. been quoted £6000

Depending on car, might be cheaper to obtain a 2nd-hand unit from ebay to drop-in, especcially when you consider it will be an engine out job regardless.Never Knowingly Understood.
