Taplady thank goodness you have taken up painting again you have a real talent and it would be a shame not to use it.
Now I know I'm getting more MSE, got charged twice for a drink in As**a , have to admit DS pointed it out but I had no qualms about asking for a refund. before I came on here I would have been too embarrassed to make a fuss and would have just let it go.:)£180.00 in 'sistercas'fund
Hope is like the sun, which, as we journey toward it, casts the shadow of our burden behind us.

Fantastic paintings Taplady, the top one would look lovely at the top of the stairs here and I could take the Greyhound home!
Afternoon All,
Today started well enough, managed to make 2 banana loaves first thing, showered and went out. Call from very distressed DD, she had missed the train and decided to drive but the windscreen wipers had stopped working. Although it wasn't raining it was very frosty and the salt specs were sticking to the windscreen and she couldn't clean it. Told her to stop at the nearest train station and get on the train. As she doesn't finish work till 6 I didn't want her hanging around waiting for the 4th emergency service in the cold and dark (not a very nice area) so I spent 2 hours in the freezing cold waiting for the recovery folk who just changed a fuse!! Still, at least it hasn't cost a fortune and she's safe. I feel I should ask her to do everything tonight - tea, change beds, hoover, and even make me a cuppa!
Not much else happening and too cold to do anything apart from snuggle up in front of the fire. Take care. XX0 -
I have been trying to get back on the old style wagon, and today have batch cooked 5 'spare' portions of chilli which will shortly go in the freezer....
and tomorrow i plan to cook some spare portions of curry....
i need to sit down and work out a strict budget, and then stick to it this week for the next few months... i have loads of food in, so will have to set my self a store cupboard challange.... is there still a thread for that? i can't seem to find it if there is...
hope you've all had good days. xx

Evening all
I didn't get out in the end today, was on a roll with my uni work so decided to keep at it. Roll on May when it's all over!! :rotfl:
I made friends with some of my neighbours. They were out in garden chopping down a small tree, so I popped out to say hello and cheekily ask if they didn't want the wood I'd take it off their hands for my parents log burner! So I now have a nice small pile of wood in the garden for my Dad to collect!
I found a bag of sad looking carrots in fridge so made spicy carrot & lentil soup, had enough for 3 portions which will do for lunches this week. Also made HM pizza topping and have one portion leftover so will freeze that. And boiled a bag of new potatoes to use in various meals this week.
OS wise - clothes dried, dishes washed up, HM soup made, HM pizza topping frozen
Have a good night all

I am soo repeating this story because it made me laugh so much, In iceland today the chicken gravy was best before 2006... I NEVER check the best before dates on packet stuff, but a lady asked me to double check because she thought her eyes were going!0

Taplady: WOW! What a talent. I'm that envious you wouldn't believe. Two things I've always wanted to do, draw and play the piano. My DB inherited all the musical talent and my late DM didn't pass on her artistic talent to either of us. But you, dear Taplady, have inherited someone's artistic talent in spades. Never mind housework, cooking etc. Just paint, paint paint.I believe that friends are quiet angels
