Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 28th January. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning all!
It's a cold one here in Glasgow - I've peeked out of the window and it looks like we've had a heavy frost.
No NSD for me yesterday - the kettle packed and had to be replaced but I did resist the matching toaster my mother suggested I buy too! I got Level One of FlyLady's list done and then called it a day housework-wise. This cold/throat thing I have is really pulling me down. I didn't get the Mushroom Stroganoff done so that's today's task.
Hope everyone is warm and safe.Household: Laura + William-cat

Morning Laura & all who follow
Very cold here this morning, the roads had been gritted when I came home from babysitting.
I need to buy fish food today & I'll go to the bank & the butchers, WM & DW are on.
It was payday yesterday so I've transferred money to the savings account & today, after I've been to the bank, I'll fill my budget pots & envelopes with the money to last the month.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Good morning Notjustlaura and all who follow.
We have had a frost here today. I'm the only one in my household up and it's so quiet.
Sons gf is out of hospital, she came out yesterday afternoon. She has lots of medication. She has colitis. She looks the best she has looked for weeks.
Have got lots of washing to do today. Did a load last night so i have put that on the airer already.
Sausages and hm wedges for tea.
I hope everyone has a good day and hugs to those who need them. For everyone who is feeling unwell at the moment, i hope you feel better soon.

Good Morning All
Forever - Colitis is horrible, hope DS GF gets better soon.
This week has flown by again, havent posted much - really dont know where all the time goes.
Was expecting it to be a lot colder than it is this morning, probably will come for tomorrow when have to stand at a freezing football pitch
Plans today are - potter around house, mainly concentrating on washing and ironing. One of OH's friends is coming round tonight for dinner so need to pop out when DS is at footie training and pick something up, am thinking a little buffet. Got some bargain beef in the freezer, a special from M&S which I will get out later and that will do for dinner tomorrow then turned into a stew for monday.
Other than that no real plans, got the housework done yesterday. Actually think will make some cupcakes later, haven't done any baking recently
Off now, (((hugs))) if you need one, hope everyone keeps warm today.x0 -
Good morning, just thought I would pop by and say hi! It is cold here but still no frost.. Am toying with going up to the allotment this morning whilst DS is at football but got to take DD1 & 2 and think it might be too cold for them. maybe get them wrapped up really snug. Other than that got to tidy up the house and finish de-cluttering the top room (has taken a week so far!). Might even make some fairy cakes as no biscuits in and not shopping til Tues.
Have a lovely day and keep warm , jedi xFinally getting my life on track. Onwards and upwards.BSC No 327GC Jan £336.91/£450GC Feb £0/£4000 -
Morning all
Chilly here but only a bit of frost out. Had a few snow/sleet flakes yesterday but we are too close to sea for much else! SHoulder much better today, almost back to normal.
Today I will be mostly doing uni work. Need a big boot up my backside to get me into gear after the last few weeks. I've decided to work in 45 min chunks, and then spend the other 15mins of the hour relaxing/cleaning/tidying etc. I will allow myself 2 big breaks of an hour or so each as I need to pop to shops for food and to return stuff.
OS wise - big tidy needed, clothes need to finish drying and be put away, need to unpack suitcase, need to find homes for stuff as things still aren't in right place after the move. Dishes need washing. Need to go food shopping at some point too.
I'm going to read in bed for next hour and then start uni work at 9am.
Have a great day all

Morning all,
Hope everyone is well. Managed to pop on whilst everyone is still asleep.
Busy week with my brother and one thing and another.
This morning will be the usual Saturday clean through. DH is off to visit his elderly aunt who is in a care home and taking his elderly DSM who is 80 and no longer drives so I will potter and watch football with DB. He is a Liverpool fan and we support Man U so lots of rivalry:D
No tea to make tonight as we are off out for a meal with family and friends. DB is paying for us as a thankyou for his accomodation which is nice as money is very tight as usual.
My SIL rang last night to say she is being made redundant in March or she can reapply for her job and take a £7000 a year pay cut:eek:
Another friend of the family has had to go bankrupt with his building business, you could not wish to meet anyone who works harder. This recession is really hurting people, I wish it would pick up soon.
Anyway on a positive note managed to stick to SW and have lost 6.5 lbs so far so really pleased with that, don't mind losing those kind of pounds:rotfl:

Morning all. Sunny and clear here today. Dog walked, breakfast eaten and we are about to go over the bridge to A**da. It's a huge one which I'm not that keen on but we need to buy DS a shirt for my DM's funeral. He doesn't usually do smart so has nothing to wear. No doubt I will get half way round and wish I hadn't started!!!!!
Hugs to all who need them(((((((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))))))))))))))))))) This recession is bad for so many people , hope things improve soon. My DH did not get the job he went for on Tuesday, so no retiring for me yet!!!!
Foreversaving glad your DS's GF is out of hospital and hope things continue to improve for her.
Have a good day all.£180.00 in 'sistercas'fund
Hope is like the sun, which, as we journey toward it, casts the shadow of our burden behind us.
