Question Re Holiday for two

Options
I havent won a comp yet but always refrain from entering travel competitions as the are usually for two people.

Just wnated to ask if you win a trip for two can you pay for a child as a third person on the trip?

Has anyone asked similar experience in their winnings?

Thanks

    Hi,nims

I've won two big holidays comps & negotiated changes on each.I won a trip to NY & gave up the $1000 dollar SAKS spend to add an extra passenger. On a trip to Vancouver I just paid the air fare for the extra passenger & was able to pick a hotel that had two double beds & the promotor covered that.By selecting certain fights I kept the cost down for the airfare. Both promotors were fine with the changes.

    No problem,nims

Some may see it as wrong but I just enter & then look to negotiate :-)
It's worked on both big holiday wins. Both promotors were very willing to help.
  • I always wonder if you could take a child (I have a 14 year old son) instead of the second adult?

Ive been pricing up package holidays for a freind and it seems on many the last age a child gets a child price is 11: from 12 up they are effectively adults.

Sometimes in competitions, its really specific on ages: the adults must be over 18, the children must be under 12
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast
  • We are a family of 2 adults and one child (6 years old).

I try to enter most of the holiday competitions, even those for two people in the hope that I might be able to negotiate an extra child.

The only ones I don't do are the luxury type ones, that are obviously aimed at adults only/honeymoon couples.

    Hi gentleorange

I am sure you can unless stated otherwise in T&C.

A friend of mine is a single mum of a 15 yr old and won a trip to Sharm el Sheikh. She went with her son as the second adult.

Thanks I Should Be So Lucky,

This approach sounds most logical and will follow it.

I haven't been entering family holiday comps because it would just be 2 going and it didn't seem fair to those with children. Think that will change now, if they negotiate travellers up, there's more chance they will let the numbers be lower as it will cost less.

Completely agree Sue, I have always left the family holidays to the Family compers, but maybe I was being a bit naive thinking that they did the same for the couples ones. I can't complain though, I won a 2 people one last year so hubby and I are off to New Zealand in less than 2 weeks time :j Two weeks with car hire and £1k spending :D
That ain't working! That's the way to do it, money for nothing and TV's for free ;)
