I haven't been entering family holiday comps because it would just be 2 going and it didn't seem fair to those with children. Think that will change now, if they negotiate travellers up, there's more chance they will let the numbers be lower as it will cost less.

I don't have children, so my approach to these is that I don't enter if the competition is being run by a company which would only have families as customers (eg nappy/baby food companies, that kind of thing).

If it's a company I would potentially be a customer of (for example supermarkets), then I would enter, which IMO is fair.
  • This can go either way, but please remember it is ultimately at the discretion of the promotors, and they're under no obligation to change the arrangements even if you do offer to pay.

I recently won a short break to Provence, and was told that we were welcome to bring LO along if we paid for her flights (easyjet, about £60 return). However, I have opted to let her stay home with Daddy and take my best mate instead :D

I guess my advice would be that you should only enter if you are willing to forfeit the prize if it can't be used or to leave kiddo at home!
Best wins: Luxury weekend in Russia, family holiday to France, catered BBQ for 20, Selfridges shopping spree, jolly to Majorca, £1,000 See Tickets vouchers, £500 John Lewis vouchers, five-star weekend in Provence!
