I went to the doctors this morning and she said that she will send off a referral for me to the eye hospital.

The last time I had it done I started the ball rolling in the October by the April I was on the operating table.

  • I had this done when I was 2 and was successful. Even the random optician that did my last eye test last year commented on how well it must have worked by my medical records.

Why not see if you can get it done quicker elsewhere? I assume you're talking about MREH, I had my [ glaucoma] treatment moved elsewhere, I got so fed up with being mucked about there, though I realise others may be happy with them.

Yeah im having it done at the MREH when ever they get round to sending me an appointment. The last time I had it done I was living back at home in Solihull.

Are the MREH a nightmare to deal with?

I didn't realise at first that this was an old thread restarted. I have double vision, i'm 59 and first became aware of it about 7yrs ago after i had cataracts done, the hospital said it had probably been there for some time and it was only after the cataract when my sight improved that i noticed it.
I've had 2 operations now, each time seemed to help but the sight drifted back, they didn't want to cut too much of the muscle in case it took my sight in the opposite direction. I've got a check-up this week which i go for about every 6mths. Up to now the consultant is recommending if i can learn to live with the problem it may be better than operating again 'cos there's always the chance an operation can go wrong and my sight go much worse. My major worry is they'll stop me driving, at the moment the hospital says that shouldn't happen but that's probably the main reason i'm reluctant to have a third operation.

I have had a letter for a pre op assessment recently. I called them today to ask whether that means ill be have surgery sooner rather than later. They transferred me to admission and the woman said I could choose my own date for surgery...
