I was wondering if any one has had or knows of anyone who has had squint surgery?
Id be interested to know if the surgery was successful the first time or did you have surgery a second or third time to get it right.
I would be greatful to hear of anyones thoughts or comments.
Many thanks

Hi there
I had this surgery done as a child, aged 4 and had to get it redone aged 5 as it turned the other way, I wouldn't say my eye is perfect now but I need to be tired or stressed for it to be noticeable. HTH0 -

That`s whats happened to me I had surgery 4 years ago however my eye has turned the other way now so im contemplating getting it done again.
I had the surgery done when I was 31 and im 35 now.
I know it will never be perfect however I get a bit paranoid about it at times, for example I refuse to have my photo took.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -

I had it done about 12 years ago. Best thing I ever did!
I now have the confidence to look people in the face
I still wear my glassses but with a different attitude.
Surgeon got it spot on too.Norn Iron Club member 4730 -
I had mine done when i was about 5, i`m 23 now so far so good, i never even knew they eye could turn again till i read a post on here made by Lady Morticia (i think) i have like a grey scar in the corner of my eye from it like on the white of my eye, but you can only notice it when i look to side and actually make a point of saying "have a look at this" lol0

My son had his done when he was only 5, he's 43 now and has had no problem at all,
Such a small op nowadays, the muscle is pulling too much to one side so a small muscle is cut to straighten the eye.
Good luck, you wont regret it.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -

I had it done when I was 11, then when I was about 35 noticed it turning again the other way ( as a few others have said ). never bothered me but GP mentioned it to me and when I was 44 had it done again to correct it. Now at 47 starting to move out again, just going to accept it , not getting it done again lol
I would say though my brother had it done when he was 5 and never had a problem, it was perfect.TOTAL 44 weeks lose. 6st 9.5lb :T0 -
I have had squint surgery 3 times and I'm 28.
First time was when i was 4 and it was over-corrected. The second time was at 16 (it had got so bad I had an incident with a teacher at school who accused me of not looking at them!) And the last time was 2 years ago.
We think because it was over-corrected when I was a child its always going to wander the other way now. My specialist has now told me they may need to do it again in a few years if it wanders again and that that may be the last time they can do it due to scar tissue.
Doesn't really help I also have something else which makes my eye wobble and spin in my squinty eye too. It's apparently quite rare for someone to have both. It's always fun when i go to the hospital or Opticians to have every student doctor/optician come and have a gander as they "might never see it again"Lurker extraordinaire :cool:0
