  • I thought I would just update following all the helpful advice.
    • my daughter asked her doctor about various blood tests and it turns out that the results of her previous ones were not forwarded when she moved to be nearer us so the Doctor took an armful yesterday (10 vials) and has arranged a wide number of tests. Lets hope these assist in narrowing down what is happening to her
    • She has appealed against ESA benefit and asked for it to be continued in payment whilst appeal being heard. She asked her Doctor for a supporting letter and he has sent a very supportive one
    • The LA has confirmed thhat Housing Allowance will be continued albeit at a lower level whilst benefit appeal is sorted

    Thank you again

My daughter has now had her ESA and Housing benefit fully re-instated so thank you to all those who proffered advice. She was also advised to claim for Disability Living Allowance which she did but this has been declined and I am inclined to think, correctly. She is able to care for herself within the terms required albeit can sometimes take her all morning. Likewise, with mobility, she can manage to walk with difficulty but she doesn't actually need guidance or supervision although she is much more comfortable when she has it.

My question is, although she doesn't actually need support within the terms of the DLA requirements, she very much needs help with the children, maintaining the house in a reasonable state, etc but it does not look as if there is any additional support available to help in that way.

    Am I missing something?

Sorry to come back on this but I have just found out that my daughter does not appear to have been claiming child tax credit.I would think she should qualify for this in her circumstances so I have been having an initial look at the relevant information and note that it is only paid from when you claim it. Are there any circumstances in which it is possible to have it backdated more than 30days?
