Sale paypal courier collection

Hi folks
Help / advise please.
Sold an item on ebay, clearly stating collection in person and cash on collection. (owing to the size of the item)
On sale of item, I mailed the buyer and asked which day / time they would be collecting, and to remember to bring cash with them.
However the buyer has paid via paypal, which I have reversed.
He has also sent a mail saying he is going to send a well known courier to collect the item.
Now where do I stand on all this, as I won't have any means of tracking this item, and if I allow the paypal it can be claimed against that the item didn't arrive.
So your thoughts please...........or what I can / should do.
Thank you

You can't refuse to take PayPal but you can refuse a courier. I certainly wouldn't be happy to have to pack something and box it instead of just handing it over to the buyer.
However you do have a problem now and need to keep buyer very sweet as they can walk away from this sale and there is nothing you can do to stop them, you cannot even get your fees back without their co operation.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I'd ask for cash payment on collection (not many but some couriers can do that) failing that you will have to offer your own courier (as long as it is within the size/weight limits for Parcelforce, use them via Paypal/Ebay then it is tracked all the way).
I would point out to the buyer that if they pay by Paypal and use their own courier then Paypal protection does not cover you in case of a lost parcel (which it doesn't)..0 -
I'd let them pay by Paypal, but then ask when it's convenient for them to collect, ask for a 1 hour window, then don't package the item or anything, simply had it to the courier as it would be if you handed it to them in person, remember to ask for a picture of their face after your e-mail!!!

Thank you for your answer, but you have just stated what I have stated in my opening post, which doesn't help me any further.
Obthe best:- thank you for your reply, I might just do as you say, and hand over and photo the driver!!

Well if they expect you to pack the item you surely should charge for the materials and your time to do this and organise the courier.
I have just bought some lights, collection only but emailed the seller and agreed to pay them extra to pack and post.
The lights went for a silly low price and I was happy to send them a cheque for £20 extra to pack and send, they were happy as it meant they had a bit more cash for the lights.0 -
Just a little suggestion since my spidey senses are going off a bit...
You may want to check that this isn't a scam. I can't post links since I'm a newbie to this site, but if you do a Google search for "sale paypal courier scams", you should see a lot of links with examples of a scam regarding a sale where the scammer wants to pay via PayPal and then send a courier.
A friend just got hit by this scam so it's still fresh in my mind, thought I'd pass on the info just in case. Good luck!0 -

Which is a per the concerns in the rest of the thread.
Sorry not with you?it's easy to deal with if paid through paypal ,but i never did like this before. so , sorry for not help.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. They are your only real options, you can photograph as many courier drivers as you like but if the buyer pays by Paypal sends their own courier and later claims non receipt you need to have all the tracking details to prove a claim with Paypal, they won't accept a picture of the driver as proof of anything.Thank you for your answer, but you have just stated what I have stated in my opening post, which doesn't help me any further.

off to ponder
If you read my post again I did say to ask for a courier that would bring cash payment, some do this, then you wouldn't have any problem. Sorry you thought I was only repeating you, I actually thought I'd given some good advice..0 -
Could you say you'll organise a courier and charge them an extra fee for that?0
-
I think you're generous to have refunded the PP. I'd've just kept asking when THEY were coming to pick it up in person, as per the listing (you did put that in your listing, right?) They can send as many couriers as they like...They deem him their worst enemy who tells them the truth. -- Plato0
