£1 National Express fares to over 30 destinations

I'm not sure that I am incorrect - Funfares were launched in response to severe competition from Megabus and easybus. I do not recall any Funfares whenever I used NatEx routes until Megabus competed and, even now, they only reduce the fares on services departing at around the same time as their competitors!
Monopolies are not good. Vive la competition!"Some say the cup is half empty, while others say it is half full. However, this is skirting around the issue. The real problem is that the cup is too big."0 -
National Express offered "from £1" fares before Megabus although they used to be known as the less than catchy Best Value fares and not very well publicised. Eurolines have recently also just renamed their best value (prev Heart2Heart) fares as funfares too.I'm so boring, my clothes wanna keep someone else warm, someone cooler0

FunFares are availaible but obviously go pretty quick. You can normally get !!!!!! up to three months in advance. Make sure you are def going though as you can't get a refund.
Go for unpopular times, i.e. no Monday mornings or Sunday eve and you have more chance of getting the cheaper tickets. Midday Tues/Wed is normally quiet.
Book each ticket idiv (there is no booking fee). For example if you are trying to book three singles and there is only 2 x £1 tick the system will offer you the cheapest avail fare applicable to everyone (i.e. 3x £5 ) - total cost £15 as opposed to £7.
!!!!!! are mainly large towns cities to/from London. They are not availiable to airports and you do take a risk thinking you can jump on/off at a different stop. The timetable may say the coach serves Heathrow and then Victoria, but when services are busy journeys are split e.g. one coach from Bath to LHR and one to Victoria.
Also booking and planning on getting on at the next stop is risky. NEL use a standby basis so if you are not at the booked stop your seat may be given away to someone else. If you book from Portsmouth but actually wait at Fareham you seat quite possibly will have been resold after dept time at Portsmouth.
Don't miss your coach. FF are completly non-ammendable so doing so would result in having to buy a new ticket at standard on-the-day prices. Neither expect to be able to travel early - the tickets are rigidly unflexible.
FF do not have connections (Bristol-London-Manchester) on them. You would have to search for one ticket from Bristol to London and then a second from London to Manchester. If doing this always allow enough connection time. Thru tickets have a minimum of 40 min connection in London - you must allow at least this. Services do get delayed and occasionally connections may be missed. If you have allowed enough connection time NEL station staff will authorise you to travel on the next avaliable service. If you only leave 5 mins between coaches you will have to buy another ticket.
Lots and lots of T&C's but if it enables you to travel from Brighton to Cardiff for £2 you can't really complain. Just take a book (or a sleeping tablet) and try and enjoy it.I'm so boring, my clothes wanna keep someone else warm, someone cooler0
