I cannot understand why you lied - and then proceeded to handle the bag so that he could see. And then, still not take it to customer services.
Why didn't you respond - 'yes, I did find one, hang on I'll get it out of my car, take it to customer services and you can retrieve it from there as I'm not allowed to hand it back without their involvement'. If that indeed is the procedure for lost items. If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0 -

I think the OP will be regetting her actions now, lying, putting the bag in her car, saying the customer was rude ect.
I really think there is more to this story as she claimed he was rude as he approached her, it doesn't look good.
I still don't understand why she had to put the bag in her car? And for the customer to see her taking it out of the car makes it worse. It's better to regret something I did do than to regret something that I didn’t. :EasterBun0 -
Does the supermarket own the car park? - just wondered.
What would have happened if OP had the same bag in her car anyway? Were you in uniform? (just for future ref it pays to cover up or take off uniform when smoking as it doesn't present the right image - not judging OP)
Are there CCTV cameras in the car park?
Just all seems a bit strange.
Just to add, competition for customers is fierce atm so it doesn't pay to upset them and the company won't be happy at this as they could spread the 'bad word' about.Karma - the consequences of ones acts."It's OK to falter otherwise how will you know what success feels like?"1 debt v 100 days £20000 -

I don't think taking of a works uniform to go for a quick ciggy break would make any difference.
Her actions were caught on CCTV simple as.It's better to regret something I did do than to regret something that I didn’t. :EasterBun0 -
I'm just skim reading here, but saw your question.copa_feela wrote: »how would the OP have ascertained that the customer was very rude and very irritated in such a brief conversation?
Tone of voice.
Facial expression
Body language.
I could say just a few words to you & you'd make a judgement on m y "mood" without even noticing you're doing it.
I'm not saying this makes the OP right to judge or lie or whatever, just answering your question.0 -

Yes I can see where your coming from but how would you approach someone you just saw putting your things in there car?
CCTV cannot pick up tones and expressions all it shown is her putting something she didn't pay for in her car. It's better to regret something I did do than to regret something that I didn’t. :EasterBun0 -

Caught on CCTV -did OP say that?
Sorry my error OP never said it, that was someone else that but she admit all what happened.
Perhaps she can confirm if there is CCTV I just took it it was standard at most supermarkets. It's better to regret something I did do than to regret something that I didn’t. :EasterBun0 -
I think some don't have CCTV as they don't want to have anything to do with cars getting damaged etc. Some have signs saying they aren't liable.
