Power shower

Options
I have had a Mira Coda EV Shower fitted also had pump fitted, But we have not got much pressure at power head. Also plumber fitted the pump salamander ESP-50-CPV above hot water cylinder ,Would this cause loss of pressure at shower head.

any advice please.

Salamander pumps are supposed to be very good. The pump should be higher than your hot water cylinder. Something clearly not right there?

What system did you have before where the pressure was fine?

  • We had a electric shower befor and we thought we would change to a power shower, But now water is not very good as a power shower should be.

When you say not very good, do you mean force or temperature?

Do you mean pressure or flow rate? As asked what's different about it now compared to before. Did you have a different pump - what pressure did it operate at? The Salamander is 1.5 bar.

This pump can be fitted anywhere as it has both +ve and -ve head capability. The positioning that determines which is used is relative to the CWST not the HWC.

Its a positive or negative head pump. You can fit it pretty much anywhere.

There may have been no space around cylinder or no access under the bath or not suitable to do it there due to location of existing pipework etc

Well it wouldn't. You have replaced an electric shower operating off mains pressure with a pumped shower with a pump putting out only 1.5 bar which is somewhat less than mains which will be iro 3 bar or perhaps higher.

Depending on the type of pump, you can also install it near the hot water cylinder so long as it is at least 60cm below the cold water storage tank.

See the following link for some guidance on installation:

Sorry to correct you but in this case this is wrong. As I have already said this particular pump has both pos and neg head capability which is set by the flick of a switch.

  • Well does that mean that we have the wrong size pump fitted. Also we do mean the pressure of the water.

Thats not for me to say. I neither specified it nor paid for it. But if you had said to me, as your installer, performance shouldn't be less than that provided by the electric shower I wouldn't have suggested this one.
